Legendary Variety Editor Peter Bart Slams Fulbright & Jaworski Lawyer for Suing The Vandals

In this fake encounter, J. Paul Williamson is at first pleasantly surprised by the visit from the legend of Hollywood Journalism Peter Bart. Things start to change however when Williamson has to explain the ridiculous waste of money used to destroy a punk band over the use of a font on an album discontinued in 2004. The Vandals, representing themselves in Delaware Federal Court, recently beat this law firm with over 900 lawyers in it in round one. The Federal Judge ruled that Variety (and parent company Reed Elsevier) were nuts to think it was fair to sue the Vandals in Delaware. He granted the Vandals motion and transferred it to California. But it's not over. Why were they sued in Delaware? To burden them in a game of extortion disguised as the "legal system." If you don't pay these thugs, they will make things very "difficult" for you until you do pay. For more info please go to www.vandals.com and read it all and see the other videos. And please help spread this video around. With your help, we can beat these bullies.

Fulbright Scholar Taisie Berkeley---India Women in Poverty.mov

So Much Resilience, So Much Wisdom Taisie Berkeley spent six months in India on a Fulbright Scholarship in 2005-6 documenting with her camera and recorder the lives of Indian women living in poverty. She focused on self-employed workers, those without any benefits, often earning just enough to buy that day's food. In this video, she shares four women's stories. These women's stories reflect Berkeley's journey to absorb centuries-old culture and attitudes--from caste prejudice to the invisibility of women--that cause Indian women to struggle so desperately in poverty. An Indian newspaper once said that India's most oppressed caste today is women. Berkeley worked with three female founders of organizations helping impoverished women--Nobel Prize Nominee Dr. Kiran Bedi of India Vision Foundation, Padmashree winner Lila Poonawalla of the Lila Poonawalla Foundation, and Magsaysay (known as the Asian Nobel Prize) winner Ela Bhatt of the Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA). Documented statistics report that 75 percent of the world's work is done by women, while only 10 percent of that income goes to women, and just one percent of the world's assets are owned by women. Each woman shown here, says Berkeley, through sheer grit has found grace under pressure and a way to make things better for subsequent generations.

My Year in Morocco: Lollipops Crown: Fulbright Project

After a year of working with disadvantaged communities, orphans and street children in Morocco, I made a final presentation of all the movies I have produced with the children from the associations of DARNA and Al Wafa and Dar Lekbira on February 19th at the Cinema Rif in Tanger, Morocco. 300 people attended my screening including many of the street children and orphans I've worked with this past year. Everyone was under one roof: artists, painters, activists, parents, rich, poor, literate, illiterate, young and old. My students saw their films and faces on the big screen and it was magnificent. Hope you dig the vid.... Love and thanks to all who supported me, you know who you are. Lollipops Crown is a multi-dimensional pilot youth arts/music education initiative I founded under my Fulbright Fellowship. The program aims to empower children via the arts, (specifically those children identified as street children and orphans), and encourage them to pursue creative outlets to express and record their unique experiences and learn new skills. Music and art can be the avenue of not only inspiring the youth, but art can further be a bridge of understanding between America and the Arab world. Since January 2009 I have been working with disadvantaged children, drug addicts and single mothers in Tangier and Kenitra. The work has been grueling and challenging, yet, the impact of this project has been worth the work and hardships. My workshops have combined education in film ...

Part 2 | FULBRIGHT: A prestigious yet achievable award

Most Malaysians shy away from applying for the Fulbright program because of it's prestigious image, a recent interview with MACCE Executive Director Dr. James Coffman shed a kind light over the whole selections process. Dr. Coffman reiterated that MACEE is not only looking for applicants with spotless academic record. As a matter of fact, they are are looking for individuals with passion, dynamism and character. People who are inspirational and leaders in their own right, having a good sense of areas of studies they intend to pursue and how best it may contribute to their professional development are encouraged to apply. He stressed that there has to be a sense of balance about the candidate; he or she needs to have strong sense of purpose and be able to carry themselves well enough to represent Malaysia. Mr. Coffman invalidated the myth that the Fulbright program is exclusively for the Ivy league. As a matter of fact, those interested in the Arts, speech therapy, political science, voice measurements, psychology, behavioral science, dance, photo-journalism, teaching and HIV/AIDS policy and prevention may apply.
