Furball Pet Friends - July 25, 2011 We happened to be in Westwood, California today and came across this protest and march staged by SAEN - "Stop Animal Exploitation Now" at UCLA. UCLA research program rocked by federal law violations, and refusal to allow USDA inspectors to investigate. The university was just cited for violations of the animal welfare act including not having appropriate veterinarian care for The report notes UCLA staff refused to let the federal inspector see portions of their labs. Among other information, SAEN, an Ohio nonprofit which monitors the nation's research laboratories for taxpayer waste and cruelty to animals, said it will make available a statement by Dr. Lawrence Hansen, a Neuroscience professor at UC San Diego, suggesting UCLA methamphetamine research is useless and cruel. "Millions of animals die in US labs every year, many under barbaric conditions, in questionable research using scarce tax dollars," said Michael A. Budkie, AHT, Executive Director, SAEN. The animals being experimented on and barring entrance to the USDA inspectors. Filmed with A flip camera! For more info please contact www.saenonline.org
