Futurism - The Dead Movement That Lives

A University of Toronto research assignment. This film explores Futurism, its manifestos and the relationship that modern Science-Fiction illustration and cinema have with futurist imagery. This film demonstrates that futurism is not a dead movement because futurist inspirations are used widely in the modern world.

Italian Futurism Tribute

A short user-made video tribute to the modernist art movement Futurism, featuring the music of Trance Opera, Chariots of the Sun. "Futurism was an artistic and social movement that originated in Italy in the early 20th century. The founder of Futurism and its most influential personality was the Italian writer Filippo Tommaso Marinetti. Marinetti expressed a passionate loathing of everything old, especially political and artistic tradition. "We want no part of it, the past", he wrote, "we the young and strong Futurists!" The Futurists admired speed, technology, youth and violence, the car, the airplane and the industrial city, all that represented the technological triumph of humanity over nature, and they were passionate nationalists. They repudiated the cult of the past and all imitation, praised originality, "however daring, however violent", bore proudly "the smear of madness", dismissed art critics as useless, rebelled against harmony and good taste, swept away all the themes and subjects of all previous art, and gloried in science. Futurism influenced many other twentieth century art movements, including Art Deco, Vorticism, Constructivism, Surrealism and Dada. Futurism as a coherent and organized artistic movement is now regarded as extinct, having died out in 1944 with the death of its leader Marinetti, and Futurism was, like science fiction, in part overtaken by 'the future'. Nonetheless the ideals of futurism remain as significant components of modern Western ...

The Fugitive Futurist (1924)

This witty short proffers futuristic visions of London landmarks by way of a 'magic' camera. But while its gleeful inventor turns out to be an escapee from the local asylum, French director Gaston Quiribet may not have been entirely barking up the wrong tree with one of his trick shots - which imagines Trafalgar Square flooded by rising sea levels. Could this be a prophetic glimpse of our great capital's fate? NBA 2K11 soundtrack: Russian Futurist - Precious Metals with lyrics

A short song that should be longer. Why do all good song do that!?!? nba-2k.com (Lyrics) You said your life's a house of cards, and it teeters on the brink On the edges of window ledges, until like a great ship down it sinks Into the sea bed, with sunken gold And words that we said back when You used to think that your life was precious metals and rose petals But now as you're growing up you're finding it's nail-biting and teeth-grinding That crown you wore with the Rhinestones is now just thorns, needles and pinecones And here's one last thing that you must learn too; what keeps you warm can also burn you Time's sinister sundials make your days hard as city streets You fall in traps, jet black in the hole that your self-pity eats I'm playing cards real close to my chest so you can't see what I've got One minute we're sub-zero and in the same breath piping hot because When we are up, we're up and then when we are down, we're down Cars crash in perfect fashion but they don't seem to make a sound and now When I'm hanging with you it feels like I'm hanging myself Now my phone's off the hook and I lay low, lie low, I go stealth You used to think that your life was precious metals and Rose petals But now as you're growing up you're finding it's nail-biting and teeth-grinding That crown you wore with the Rhinestones is now just thorns, needles and pinecones And here's one last thing that you must learn too; what keeps you warm can also burn you You said your life's a house of ...

Ray Kurzweil - Futurist

See more videos about Jewish Identity at leadel.net Everything is exponential to Ray Kurzweil. Ray has studied technology trends for a long time. An avid futurist, and as some say a transhumanist, he wants to understand what technological advances the future is going to bring. Want to know what the technology of the future will look like? Ray can imagine it. Not without his share of critics, he believes we will have enough solar energy to meet our needs in 16 years and a complete understanding of how the human brain works in the next 20 years. "Evolution is a spiritual process," he says, bringing us closer to "the ideal of God." A production of http a project of The European Jewish Congress (www.eurojewcong.org) and made possible thanks to its President Moshe Kantor.

The First 5 Times (Russian Futurists remix)

The first time, in your backyard Underneath the plastic sheeting Outside, it was pouring And we were drunk as shit Next time, at a party When all our friends were there There's nothing like their mattresses Underneath the stairs The third time, in a doorway With the lights all on around us And the audience beside us And the old man watching from a tree Fourth time, I said that's that You've agreed to give me everything Now I've got to ask you one more thing Keep doing that forever Fifth time in your bedroom And finally, we rested And you leaned upon your elbow And began to speak to me But you stopped yourself and kissed me And I grabbed your lips and told you I know, I know, I know I feel the same as you And everyday, it's changed since then In every way, I've changed since then And everyday, it's changed since then In every way, I've changed since then
