MIA - Galang - San Francisco, Live, Outside Lands Festival Sunday 8-30-09 in HD, 2nd row at the Polo Fields at Golden Gate Park. MIA is a really fun person.. In addition to throwing trumpets into the crowd (of which I caught one) so the audience could play along to one of her songs, MIA stopped by my section to sing along with the crowd. If it wasn't for security coming by earlier during the Modest Mouse performance, I would have tried to get MIA's whole song, as 'Galang' is the track that first made her popular. Other highlights include: MIA saying that "San Francisco holds a big place in my heart... but a lot has changed since I was last here. I got engaged here (cheers) and I think I got pregnant here (cheers), so now Im just a bit scared." (Engaged to Benjamin Brewer, singer and guitarist for the band The Exit.) MIA tried out a new song, 'Born Free', telling the audience that ~"we're about 6 months away from getting this song right, but here it is." It humorously involved 2 of her backup singer/dancers playing Rock Band guitars.. The trumpets MIA threw out into the crowd were surprisingly quite substantial. Very hard plastic with a rope tied to it so you could carry it over your shoulder, and had a circular MIA sticker on it with *Fight On* printed on the circumference. Nice souvenir... Even more surprising was how well the tone of the trumpet seemed to accompany her songs.. MIA often blew the horn into the microphone when she sat down at the keyboard. In case you're <b>...</b>
