M1 Garand - Principles of Operation (1943) United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1

This Army Training film explains the principles of operation of the M1 (Garand) Infantry Rifle The US Rifle M1 was the first semiautomatic rifle to be the standard small arm of the US Military, requiring a trigger pull to fire a round but automatically chambering the next round. This not only greatly increased the rate of fire over bolt-action rifles, but made it far easier to reacquire a target after each round. It was also the first semiautomatic rifle to be adopted by a major military power. It was the product of a genuine genius, John Cantius Garand.
Garand Thumb

Just a little video showing the power of the M1 Garand's bolt. You don't own a Garand for long without getting bit and when it happens, it HURTS. I have only been bitten once, and it was the same day I bought the gun.

M1 GARAND semi automatic rifle

The M1 Garand (formally the United States Rifle, Caliber .30, M1) was the first semi-automatic rifle to be generally issued to the infantry in any nation. In 1936, it officially replaced the bolt-action Springfield M1903 rifle as the standard service rifle of the United States military (the M1903 retaining a valuable role as a sniper rifle), and was subsequently replaced by the select-fire M14 in 1957. However, the M1 continued to be used in large numbers until 1963, and to a lesser degree until 1966.

1944 WWII M1 Garand (M1-E8) sniper rifle at 420 yards

I love the restoration of the greatest rifle ever manufactured, the M1 Garand. This is one of my babies; this is my fully restored WWII era M1-E8 Garand sniper rifle. (M81 2.5x scope on a Springfield Armory mount, with cross-hairs. Standardized for snipers in September 1944) Everything on this rifle is authentic with the exception of the check piece and sling, which are reproductions. The M1E8 was designated the M1D and adopted as a "substitute standard" in September 1944. Virtually no M1Ds were produced during WWII. Since all M1Ds (with the exception of the tool room models) fall into the category of "rebuilds" there is no serial number range generally associated with this version of the M1 sniper rifle.

M-1 Garand Importation Legislation in Congress Allowing Garands from South Korea

The US State Department has blocked the importation of M-1 Garands and M-1 Carbines from South Korea saying that they could pose a threat to our American community. I would say that the only threat to our American community is a State Department run by a bunch of anti-gun freedom hating maggots like Hillary Clinton and the head maggot of them all, Barack Obama (with all due respect). Luckily congress is going to do something about it. jbranstetter04 Obama Administration Reverses Course, Forbids Sale of 850000 Antique Rifles The South Korean government, in an effort to raise money for its military, wants to sell nearly a million antique M1 rifles that were used by US soldiers in the Korean War to gun collectors in America. The Obama administration approved the sale of the American-made rifles last year. But it reversed course and banned the sale in March -- a decision that went largely unnoticed at the time but that is now sparking opposition from gun rights advocates. A State Department spokesman said the administration's decision was based on concerns that the guns could fall into the wrong hands. "The transfer of such a large number of weapons -- 87310 M1 Garands and 770160 M1 Carbines -- could potentially be exploited by individuals seeking firearms for illicit purposes," the spokesman told FoxNews.com. "We are working closely with our Korean allies and the US Army in exploring alternative options to dispose of these firearms." Gun control advocates praised the Obama ...

M1 Garand.

I need some opinions on if I should buy this beautiful, historical battle rifle. I have actually in the past advised some people not to buy the real pretty no scratch surplus firearm. I love the old looking patina of an old surplus rifle. This is completely different but it is different in a good way. This rifle was refurbished privately by an ex military armorer and He knew what He was doing. He put together His Garand's with dates in mind. All the Garand's this man refurbished was matched to the best of his abilities to be as close to what rolled off the assembly line as possible.. I am a little torn. On one hand we have a flawless rifle that is almost perfect in every way, including dated parts. On the other hand, it was refurbished privately and not at the military armory. I have always been a little leary of private rebuilds, especially when it comes to Garands and M1 Carbines. However, John bought this rifle from a man whom He had researched thoroughly and we know He did it right and with Him being a military armorer, this gun exhibits His skills and training with particular attention to detail such as all period correct parts. So, I ask you all, my great subscribers, What should I do ??? Buy or No Buy ??? Please I am really looking for everyones opinion on this and yes, if I buy it, there will be plenty of vids of the Garand. Thanks to all and God Bless.

M1 Garand The Rifle that liberated the World

The M1 Garand was at the time "The Greatest Battle Implement ever Devised" said General George S. Patton. It is truly the gun that saved the world. The M1 Garand, there were actually about 30 variants of the rifle, with only a few being developed. The M1C and M1D,were sniper variants that were implemented,They were chambered in .308. The scopes were offset to the left side of the rifle because it was a top loader. The first variants had a gas trap at the muzzle. They were complicated and had many problems. The gas trap was dropped in favor of simple drilled ports and most of the rifles made before 1939 were retrofitted and finding a M1with the gas trap is very rare and are very sought after.Beside Springfield Armory ( which was owned by the Government at that time) there were 4 other manufacturers of M1's. They are Winchester, Barretta, Hurrington&Richardson and International Harvester. H&R and IH manufactured for the Korean conflict. The years were 1953-1956. I want to personally thank all the soldiers who fought and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in order to save the world from the Japanese and Hitler and his evil minions. I can not believe in America today there are those who side with and almost worship Hitler and the Nazi movement. If you are one of these sad people, I pray for your soul. I think you might as well spit on the graves of the HEROS that gave their lives to rid the world of such evil.Shame on you. I actually had a guy comment very nicely on one of ...
