Two Gerbils, One Wheel
Colby and Petey love their wheel so much that they are both willing to run at the same time haha. I only had Petey for 5 days. He turned out to be an aggressive male that bites. He was returned to the store to be sold as a single male. He was very hyper and active, so he will be able to entertain himself with no problems. I traded him for a dove gerbil that I, for lack of a better name, chose to call Grey. Grey will make his appearance in some videos after this one.

The Gerbils - Sunshine Soul
Live link to this song - www.youtube.com www.myspace.com The Gerbils are an indie rock band that formed in Athens, GA in 1998. Part of the Elephant Six Collective, the band released two albums and toured nationwide during their tenure. The band consisted of Scott Spillane, John D'Azzo and Will Westbrook, college roommates in Ruston, LA. Along with sometimes-cellist Penny Burbank, they released a couple singles on a variety of record labels from 1996-1998 before recording an album (which included the four previously-released songs) in 1998 on Hidden Agenda Records. Spillane's Neutral Milk Hotel bandmate Jeremy Barnes eventually joined as drummer, which drove the somewhat twee pop sound of the band's first album towards a more energetic hard rock. The members of the band soon decided to call it quits unofficially with a farewell show in 1999 in Athens. While D'Azzo pursued interests in California, Spillane and Westbrook (with the help of members of Of Montreal and Elf Power) finished mixing the album that was completed with Chris Bishop prior to their separation. Once the resulting album, The Battle of Electricity, was completed, the Gerbils did a national tour with Elf Power before again separating. The band eventually reformed in 2004, playing regularly and becoming fully active. Guitarist Will Westbrook died on Monday, December 11, 2006 due to an undisclosed illness. Gerbil Care: Introducing Anakin & Gordon
Part 1 of 2 Caring for Gerbils. Most of the topics covered are simply my take on what research I've done online to care for these special animals. One main point I mention repeatedly, and so theres no redundant comments, A 10 gallon tank is TOO SMALL for 2 gerbils. It maybe ok for 1, although they should be paired. 2 males are ideal aslong as they are from the same litter or somewhat close in age. My set are a father and son, 1-2 yrs old. If a tank is too big, they may become territorial so I'm taking that into consideration as well. My goal is too get a 20 gallon tank. Rule of thumb is, 10 gal for the 1st gerbil, .5gal for each after that. So here they are, Anakin and Gordon. I'd also like to add, always consider adoption before buying from a store. Search Craigslist, local newspaper, or pet shop bulletin boards to adopt a pet. Most cases they are totally free to a good home, or for a small rehoming fee. I got mine with the tank and all. Not only we're they free, but also got $5 towards some food. The previous owners felt reluctant that I took them on such short notice, as they had to move and wasn't feasible to take them along. Gerbil Physics Xbox LIVE Game Preview
This week's new Xbox LIVE game is called Gerbil Physics. It comes out on Wednesday March 13th and will cost $2.99 for the full version. Gerbil Physics is a lot like "Implode!" except instead of chalk outlines of structures drawn on a chalk board, we have buildings made out of stacks of gerbils. The gerbils were put into these indestructable boxes by the evil toads and flying penguins. In addition to the much more interesting story line compared to "Implode!", Gerbil Physics also has more interesting graphics, a wider variety of explosives, and you can place explosives anywhere. You'll find 72 levels to play in Gerbil Physics. The first half or so are quite easy, but that means it's not terribly frustrating to play, yet I felt it was still enjoyable. The puzzles seem more engaging than "Implode!" as well, so that's good. Gerbil Physics will be available on Wednesday March 14 for $2.99 in the Windows Phone Marketplace.

Gerbils Eating Mealworms
This is a video of our gerbils, Mesa and Palooza, eating mealworms on Sunday, June 28, 2009, fed to them by Lindsey using tweezers. Gerbils LOVE mealworms. It is very entertaining watching them enjoy eating them too! Remember, they should only be aloud to eat 2-3 mealworms every 48 hours. Enjoy the video! :):):)
Gerbil Taking a Sand Bath
This is our gerbil, Palooza, taking another sand bath. We had recently put up a video of her taking a sand bath; but, this is a better look at what she does while "bathing". In my opinion, the best way for giving a gerbil a sand bath is to find a bucket they can jump into outside their cage. They are able to take a sand bath but not kick out the sand afterwards! "Sand baths" are how gerbils bathe in their normal/natural desert environment. Put a bucket of sand in front of a gerbil and their instinct is to jump right in and start enjoying cleaning themselves! More shoulder play, and some information on red noses and gerbils. If your gerbil comes down with a red nose (this is mucous, not blood) like Columbus (not rare for gerbils), check behavior, if all is normal (play, eating, sleeping, drinking and cleanliness remains the same) then try to discern if an allergy has arisen. Change the bedding and cut back on food choices. No pine or cedar! EVER! Try aspen, carefresh, boxo, or corncob. Stick to lab pellets. After things clear up (Columbus is recovering) you can try to slowly introduce new foods, watching for red nose. Heavy breathing, fatique, lethargy, and matted fur could be a sign of a respiratory illness and a vet visit may be needed.
