How did I do this? I will not tell you, so that you can ponder over my glorious test footage! Haha, just kidding. FIRST read this blog, the lady knows her stuff and is 5 billion times smarter than me: eugenia.queru.com Set your cameras to 60i (HDV on the HV40/30/20's) and shutter speed at 1/1000 [TV mode]. AND...this is the important part...you need AWESOME lighting, such as a bright sunny day (due to the shutter speed you're shooting at). Follow the Blog! After Effects settings: 24fps, squared pixels, rendered uncompressed avi. Compressed using the H.264 codec. This footage was applied with After Effect's time stretch (125% - 175%). It doesn't look slow-mo, but trust me, those ice cubes were chucking really fast into the cup! I will re-upload a longer, improved version next week!

In America it's commonly known that Ginger Ale will ease a sour tummy. Anyone whose had a stomach virus will have had it recommended. After being under the weather myself in my new home, England I learned upon extensive search that there is no Ginger Ale to be found. Not at Sainsbury's, Tesco's, The Co-op, Marks and Spencer's...Nowhere. What I have been able to find is Jamaican Ginger Beer which I'm more than familiar with as the stuff rocks my socks. This however made me wonder if an unsuspecting American perhaps here on vaca or something gets a touch of the bad tummies and finds that there is no ginger ale and assumes ginger beer to be the English equivalent. Yeah, to anyone that's had the stuff before can attest to the fact that if your stomach hurts the last thing you want inside it is carbonated fire. Granted it's quite mild but to the unsuspecting pallet well *press eject* so this is a little disclaimer. You never know--Seriously!

Meet Bruce Cost , the founder of Fresh Ginger Ginger Ale by Bruce Cost , an unfiltered, pure cane sugar ginger ale made in Brooklyn, NY . I started seeing this product pop-up in my local artisan food shops last summer. Being a big ginger ale fan, I was curious to try this interesting looking chunky version of what I'm normally used to. Holding the clear bottle, you can see chopped up pieces of real ginger settled at the bottom. I was intrigued (Bruce calls this his main selling point). Turn it upside down and the ginger pieces launch into soda space, giving you this drink that is just unlike any ginger ale experience I've ever had. I'll be honest, I wasn't sure if I'd like it. But I did. I really liked it. It gave my ginger ale a third dimension -- something to chew on. And, it was just so...ginger-y.
