The Dangers of High Fructose Corn Syrup (Glucose-Fructose Syrup, High-Fructose Maize Syrup, HFCS)

High Fructose Corn Syrup, also known as HFCS, glucose-fructose syrup, glucose syrup, fructose syrup, glucose/fructose, high-fructose maize syrup or corn sugar is a corn-based sweetener that is used in thousands of food products such as soft drinks, fruit juices, ice cream, candy, baked goods, cookies, ketchup, soups, salad dressings, breads, crackers, etc. en.wikipedia.org HFCS is a mixture of fructose and glucose, and is used by food companies because it is cheaper than sugar and gives food products a longer shelf life. HFCS is responsible for a host of health problems such as obesity, high cholesterol, insulin problems, type 2 diabetes, liver damage, hypertension, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer, migraines, ADHD, etc. globalhealingcenter.com articles.mercola.com buzzle.com HFCS and the link to cancer: youtube.com sciencedaily.com HFCS often contains mercury which can lead to brain disorders! naturalnews.com Corn, the source of high fructose corn syrup, is often genetically modified, which also carries serious health risks! seedsofdeception.com Glucose is used as fuel by the cells in our body. In contrast, fructose can only be metabolized by the liver which turns fructose into fat. When consuming fructose, 30% is being stored as fat! Fructose, in contrast to glucose, has no effect on appetite, which results in overeating and obesity. naturalnews.com lef.org The fructose found in fruit and in some vegetables is actually quite healthy as it contains fiber <b>...</b>

Glucose Glucose - Song by Science Groove.

www.youtube.com linked this awesome website on twitter. There is a bunch of science songs on there. This one is from the album "Muscles and Magnets". It's about glycolysis to the tune of "Sugar Sugar" by The Archies. I couldn't find the song on youtube and it's too awesome not to upload. More coming soon! EDIT: And I found it just after I uploaded it. LOL. Also, anyone know links to some similar neuroscience related songs? This and other MP3s: www.science-groove.org LYRICS: Glucose -- ah, sugar sugar -- You are my favorite fuel From the blood-borne substrate pool. Glucose -- monosaccharide sugar -- You're sweeter than a woman's kiss 'Cause I need you for glycolysis. I just can't believe the way my muscles take you in. (For you, they'll open the door.) All it takes is a little bit of insulin (To upregulate GLUT4). Ah, glucose -- ah, sugar sugar -- You help me make ATP When my predators are chasing me. Ah, glucose -- you're an aldehyde sugar, And you're sweeter than a woman's kiss 'Cause I need you for glycolysis. I just can't believe the way my muscles break you down. (My glycogen is almost gone.) A few more seconds and I'll be rigor mortis-bound. (Acidosis done me wrong.) Your sweet is turning sour, baby. I'm losing all my power, baby. I'm gonna make your muscles ache. No, no, no! I'm swimming in lactate, baby. Yes, I'm swimming in lactate, baby. Now I'm drowning in lactate, baby. I'm gonna make your muscles ache. No, no, no! I'm drowning in lactate, baby. Sucrose, fructose and glucose: Part 1

Visit us at www.eastwesthealing.com Facebook http Nutritional coaching eastwesthealing.com The Metabolic Blueprint Program eastwesthealing.com Fruit is an optimal carbohydrate for the human body it contains the disaccharide, sucrose. Sucrose is broken down into glucose and fructose. Despite all the debate around fructose, what has been shown is that fructose inhibits the release of insulin by glucose. In people with impaired insulin function/sensitivity fructose can be beneficial as it stimulates the enzymes needed to bring sugars into the cells. According to Ray Peat, PhD, Potassium plays a vital role in delivery of glucose into the cell without causing a drop in blood sugar, that happens when insulin alone is used to perform this function. Fructose has the ability to by-pass fatty acid inhibition of glucose metabolism leaving it available for oxidation when glucose is not. The metabolism of diabetes involves the oxidation of fatty acids instead of glucose, suggesting that the ingestion of fructose would be appropriate in the management of metabolic dysglycemia. Instead Diabetics are encouraged to eat whole grains, beans and "complex carbs" (glucose) and avoid sugars. Ray Peat suggests that it is the fructose and sucrose that should be used instead because they will not cause the cascade of hormonal problems that glucose will. Fructose doesn't just increase glucose metabolism, but increases the whole metabolism. Some experiments have shown a 50% increase in metabolic <b>...</b>

Alert on Certain Abbott Diabetes Care Blood Glucose Meters

Abbott Diabetes Care is warning about problems with some of the company's blood glucose meters. These meters could accidentally be switched from one measurement unit to another, possibly causing the patient to misinterpret the glucose test results. The affected glucose meters include the FreeStyle®, FreeStyle Flash™, FreeStyle Tracker™, Precision Xtra™, MediSense® Sof-Tact™, and MediSense® Optium™. Abbott meters are also sold under private label brands such as ReliOn® Ultima, Rite Aid® and Kroger®. These meters were originally designed to allow patients to see their test results in the units customarily used in their own country. To do that, the patient could switch between showing the results in two different measurement units: mg/dL, the standard used in the US, and mmol/L, which is used in many other countries. The problem can occur if the measurement units switch without the patient realizing it. This can happen when the patient resets the date and time or changes the battery, or even if the meter is dropped or bumped. Then, if the patient just looked at the numbers without noticing the different units or the decimal point, he could incorrectly assume that his blood glucose level is too high or too low. To help resolve the problem, all new Abbott meters now have the correct unit of measurement locked in place. Patients can continue to use the older units, but they should make sure that their meter displays the glucose test result in mg/dL. If patients don't know how <b>...</b>

Comment and tell us what you think! AP bio rap video. *Also...We meant ATP Synthase makes ATP, while ETC provides concentration gradient.** Lyrics: YA KREBS CYCLE YA! Chorus: Glycolysis, the citric acid cycle, used to be krebs but they didn't like him Chemiosmosis, and fermentation, are very similar functions of anerobic respiration. That is the cell, it uses ATP Oxygen doesn't grow on trees You may ask"What does it mean to me?" You use celluar respiration to harvest your energy. Glucose is the sugar used, oxygen is important too.Co2 is giving off carboxyl groups made them new. Pyruvate then becomes converted and Acetyl CoA in the cell is gurded with water and NAD+, reduction with an H is a must. (Chorus once more) OOH YOU HAD THAT COMING, you had that coming. What's and nahs. Lemme' tell you about the new part of celluar respiration it's called oxidative phosphorolation, its the time to synthesize ATP, its what makes the energy for you and me. Diabetes - Insulin Pump - CGM - Continuous Glucose Monitor

Dear Medicare, It is very easy for you to sit back in your office and say "NO" because you don't have to stay awake all night long checking your blood sugars every hour which have been extremely out of control over the past 8 years. I keep a very strict record of my blood sugar testing, 10-12 times a day; my numbers can range from the 20's to over 600 in a space of 2 hours. Every second of my life I need to make sure my blood sugars are not to high or to low and I am forced to stay awake all night long. What scare's us is what these high and low blood sugar levels are doing to my vision kidneys and heart. My Mission Statement: There was a man who was walking along a sandy beach where thousands of starfish had been washed up on the shore. He noticed a boy picking the starfish one by one and throwing them back into the ocean. The man observed the boy for a few minutes and then asked what he was doing. The boy replied that he was returning the starfish to the sea, otherwise they would die. The man asked how saving a few, when so many were doomed, would make any difference whatsoever? The boy picked up a starfish and threw it back into the ocean and said "Made a difference to that one..." The man left the boy and went home, deep in thought of what the boy had said. He soon returned to the beach and spent the rest of the day helping the boy throw starfish in to the sea.... ~ Loren Eiseley
