This is a go kart me and me buddy worked on in shop class. I did not put it together, all i did was take the enging out and fix the timign and some other stuff, then put it back in there and fired it up, i had to do th clutch, shifter, and mount the speedo but thats bout it. Since i have been getting alot of responses of " what a pussy take it out of 2 or hes being scared ( which i have a 1200 rocket so im pretty sure i woulda handled it) i would take it going 100 ( riiiiight ok then), and quit rolling on the throttle, take it out into the field, and so on, i will revise the description my dad put on here and tell you some details. We were not planning on puting it on youtube in the first plce, and as everyody knows you get a little more braver and stupider in front of the camera, well i didnt know that so we were just putsin around, First of all, no brakes(at all) 2nd of all it was the first time having it out of the shop and actually riding it, 3rd of all the frames not very sturdy at all, and 4th we had it for sale on ebay thats the last thing i wanted to do is screw it up. (Music By Juno Reactor) The first video thats related to this is the entire video. this is just a demo. heres the Specs: This project was done for a graduating grade at my high school. the grade on it was a 98% and i got a 95 on my speech (which was 12 minutes long.) this was the video i showed during my presentation. this project took a total of 2 to 3 months of work, and i started with ordering a set of go-kart plance from Don's DIY Den (diyden.net.) The go-kart was origionally designed for a 5 horsepower motor, but i put in a monster 18 horsepower twin cylinder motor. it wasnt the BEST idea because the ngine is on the side and it is kind of off weight. other than that and the crappy breaks, there are no real problems with it. The frame used mostly .095" one inch square tubing, and for the braces and brackets, i used 1/4" sheet metal. All of the parts in which i did not build or find from friends, i obtained from northern tool (northerntool.com.) some parts like the front wheels and steering wheel, i got from friends or yard sales. i got the engine from my stepbrother Tony moore who i thank dearly. the engine is $1400 brand new. it was used in Iraq to power a giant frige. tony bought it to grind up horse poop. and i got it for free. This thing started up the first pull and yes, i know the mixure is off, but once we got this thing working, it topped out at about 50 MPH, andhad real nice handling. not that great of a turning radious, but good handling. the clutch was <b>...</b>

This go kart/Buggy was made by my dad, my uncle, and myself. it started life as a kawasaki GPX 250 and it didn't run when we got it. we bought the bike for $900 and the next few weekends were cleaning the carby idle and main jets and general maintenance of the motor like new spark plugs and a heap of other stuff. now she runs like new. we then took it all apart and left the motor and electrics sitting there for a couple of months while we built the frame and got all of that done and when we put it back together in the go kart it didn't run. we did all the same things and got it to run again idling very low and it very rarely stalls. all up it cost between 1500 and 2000 to make it but it was worth all the trouble it gave us.

I just finished up with this homemade gokart with a harbor freight 2.5hp engine. We have a small backyard and my boys have never driven one before so I was trying to have it go around lawn mower speed. I'd say it probably goes 10mph when topped out. The governer is removed and it will wind out with me on it to over 4500 rpm (I have a tiny tach). I used a 12 tooth clutch and then took a spare jackshaft sprocket and welded it to a 40 tooth axle gear which is on the jackshaft. Then it goes to a 13 tooth sprocket and then to a 60 tooth. Frame is welded out of 1" tubing from local hardware stores. It was very tricky because of the thin tubing and avoiding blowing through the metal with the welder. This engine is capable of much faster speed with different gearing however my family has a yard with some hills and the boys are cautious about putting the pedal to the metal so the low gearing works fine. It did take me several head scratches to figure out why the engine kept shutting down and then figured out it had a low oil cutoff that was triggered when I was cutting the corners. I actually built two karts in two weeks. First one was a 1.5 feet longer which was great for adults but even with the adjustable seat the boys were having a hard time pushing the gas all the way down. Update: The 60T sproket was swapped for a 40T sprocket on the main axle for additional ground clearance. The current drive is a 12T clutch to a 40T on the jackshaft outputing to a 11T and then to a 40T on <b>...</b>

Intended for use on smooth dirt & grass, this kart took around 60 hours to build. Rigid frame (no suspension) and side mounted motor give the kart a short wheelbase, kart will fit in a 6x4 trailer. The seat is fitted 30mm left of centre to compensate for the engine hanging off the side. The engine is a 125cc Ducar motor - 4 speed manual. The kart also features KSI cable operated caliper,Saas steering wheel & Willans harness. Bayswater Power Trans. provided machine work on rear axle, sprocket & carrier, and Powercycle in Bayswater provided the disc. Everything else has been engineered by myself. I made an Aluminium panel/heat shield between the fuel tank & muffler. I had to make one to match for the other side, just so it looked right.
