After narrowly avoiding the ground at takeoff, this was my first flight with the GoPro HD attached under the glider. This flight was 16mn on a 2600mAH lipo and my next one was 25mn (which emptied the other battery), not bad for carrying all that extra non aerodynamic weight :) I flew over big expensive houses and interesting buildings, and you can also see the nearby cemetary and their array of solar panels which I had never noticed until now. This short video is basically to record the sound of a Raven in Anchorage, Alaska. We spend all Winter with Ravens. When I posted a Raven photograph on Flickr a while back, I got several messages from my Flickr Friends who said that they did not have Ravens in their area of the world. I thought to myself that this means they probably have never heard a Raven and their amazing vocalizations, one of my favorite qualities of Ravens. Ravens are known to make about 33 distinct sounds which are also combined to make even more sounds. I've always found their vocalizations amazing on a cold, clear, sunny day in Winter with the Raven in a near-by tree... it's very much the essence of the Far North for me. So, anyway, I was out today walking Harry in our neighborhood and a near-by Raven was making a whole array of sounds so I started "recording" them by using my little GoPro camcorder. The Raven is in the tree on the video but it's not a close up or anything since the GoPro camcorder only has a fixed, wide-angle lens. But you do get to hear the Raven's amazing calls... the sounds begin in a few seconds after the video starts. The video is only a little over two-minutes long. But it's a good example of what Ravens sound like in the Real World! Here's the link to my video of Raven Sounds:
