Gozo (Maltese: Għawdex) is an island of the Maltese archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea, the island is part of the Southern European country Malta and is the second largest after the island of Malta itself within the archipelago. Compared to its neighbour island, Gozo is more rural and known for its scenic hills, which feature on its coat of arms.[1] A popular nickname of Gozo is the Isle of Calypso, derived from the location of Ogygia in Greek mythological poem Homer's Odyssey.[2] In the myth, the island was controlled by nymph Calypso who detained the hero of the story Odysseus there as prisoner of love for seven years; Gozo is thought to be modern day Ogygia.[3] The island itself has a population of around 31000 people (all of Malta combined has 402000), and its inhabitants are known as Gozitans (Maltese: Għawdxin). It is rich in historical locations such as the Ġgantija temples which, along with the Megalithic Temples of Malta, are the world's oldest free-standing structures and also the world's oldest religious structures.

Aikido Shioda Gozo Gōzō Shioda (塩田剛三, Shioda Gōzō, September 9, 1915 - July 17, 1994), was a Japanese aikido teacher and the founder of the Yoshinkan style of aikido. Shioda was a student of judo while young, and after being easily thrown by Morihei Ueshiba after a demonstration, became his student in 1932. He also studied aikijujutsu. He has become known as one of the most "fiery" or "vigorous" people of aikido history. In 1961 he was awarded a 9th dan rank by Ueshiba and in 1985 he received 10th dan and the title Sōke from the International Budo Federation. - i do not claim ownership rights to this video -

Ramla Bay has a splendid stretch of orange sand with blue waters. Beach facilities include cafés, water sports and sunshades are available on the beach. Romans Remains: A 19-room Roman Villa-Bathhouse were discovered beneath the sands. 1910, Dr Temi Zammit led the excavations. The remains were covered in 1915 to protect from posterity. The artifacts and site plans are displayed at the Archeology Museum. Calypso Caves According to Homer in The Odyssey, the nymph Calypso lived in this cave and it is where she entertained Ulysses for 7 years before he resumed his journey. Ramla Batteries & Redoubts: Between 1715-1716, the Knights of St John began building a series of fortifications to guard the bay to prevent the invaders and pirates from disembarking at ease.
