Steven Wilson - Track One (from Grace for Drowning)

Lasse Hoile's new video for Track One, taken from Steven Wilson's second solo album Grace for Drowning. Grace For Drowning' is the second album released under Wilson's own name, and builds on the artistic inroads he forged with 2009's exceptionally well-received 'Insurgentes.' A double album ('two 40-45 minute albums in the same package') Wilson has described it as "my biggest project to date". He continues, "'Insurgentes' was an important step for me into something new. This record takes that as a starting point, but it's more experimental and more eclectic. For me the golden period for music was the late sixties and early seventies, when the album became the primary means of artistic expression, when musicians liberated themselves from the 3 minute pop song format, and started to draw on jazz and classical music especially, combining it with the spirit of psychedelia to create "journeys in sound" I guess you could call them. So without being retro, my album is a kind of homage to that spirit. There's everything from [Ennio] Morricone-esque film themes to choral music to piano ballads to a 23 minute progressive jazz--inspired piece. I've actually used a few jazz musicians this time, which is something I picked up from my work remixing the King Crimson records." The full tracklist is as follows; CD1: 1. Grace For Drowning (2.00) 2. Sectarian (8.00) 3. Deform to Form a Star (8.00) 4. No Part of Me (5.45) 5. Postcard (4.30) 6. Raider Prelude (2.30) 7. Remainder the Black ...

Steven Wilson - GRACE FOR DROWNING Album Review

Facebook Page - Coverkiller Nation (like it now!) Steven Wilson, the mastermind of Porcupine Tree delivers us in 2011 his second solo album. An epic two disc affair, Wilson also delivers us his most personal and passionate affair to date, across all projects. This album fuses ambiance with jazz and classic progressive rock from the 60's and 70's to create an epic and beautiful work of art. The personal nature of this album is amplified by the loss of Steven's father earlier this year, and is also amplified by the guests he's brought in to create this beast. Tony Levin and Jordan Ruddess offer their assistance (just to name a few) and as a whole the groupings encapsulate what an entire era was all about. This album will be misunderstood and disliked by many who long for soaring guitars and blast beats, but beloved by music aficionados who know their history and love this style. Expect to see this album again.

Steven Wilson - Track One (Grace for Drowning 2011) [Solo Cover]

My attempt to cover the solo in the last part of Track One (Grace for Drowning) by Steven Wilson. Don't know if the arpeggios are exactly accurate to the original version neither the timing of the solo, that's basicly what came out in the moment. Recorded the two guitars on Fl Studio 9.8 with Guitar Rig 3. Hope you like it and if you do feel free to subscribe.

Grace for Drowning is the second studio solo album by Steven Wilson, producer, songwriter, and frontman of Porcupine Tree. It was released by Kscope Music Records on September 26, 2011. The album received a nomination in 54th Grammy Awards for Best Surround Sound Album. I think it's time that I got off the kitchen floor But is there really any point at all? Waking up this morning felt the same Better sleep while life is so mundane It could have been yesterday that I locked the door I blocked the windows up so I can't be sure Now I haven't even got the will to eat I'm lame and self-obsessed, that I will concede I'd like to light a cigarette but I cannot The lighter's dead and the gas has been cut off I'm the one you always seem to read about The fire inside my eyes has long gone out There's nothing left for me to say or do 'Cause all that matters disappeared when I lost you...
