Capcom made a fine job at converting CPS1 titles to the Super Nintendo. Final Fight was the first example of how a SNES could handle a conversion from arcade to home. Memory constrains meant that the 2P mode, 1 stage and Guy had to be droped from the first version of the game. In the future, this would be a problem of the past, has Capcom also introduced the first 16mbit cartrige for the SNES: Streetfighter 2. Update: Out now on Wii Virtual Console.

"Final Fight" showed off the CPS1 hardware power by bringing huge and several sprites on screen at the same time in 1989, being a huge influence on the side scrolling beat'em'up genre and serving as foundation for many games to come, including future CPS1 games and Sega's own "Streets of Rage". Introducing Mike Haggar, Cody and Guy, the game allowed for two players cooperative beatings in the streets of fictional Metro City against the gangs of Mad Gear (all named after rock bands or wrestlers, the legend says). Fun game, loved the Amiga conversion and also bought every SNES outing of the franchise. Im a big fan of Capcom and this is truly a masterpiece. It's a shame the genre has been forgotten... and I still want to fight Zangief with Mike Haggar.

Then you must DHC immediately following a hit of the 'gut punch' portion of the super. It's possible that you could achieve this effect with characters other than Hagger but I haven't extensively tested it. If anyone finds any other methods, feel free to post a comment/reply. Saturday Night Slammasters was a really good wrestling game, using CPS1 hardware. Kinda like Final Fight, but with a ring to play around with. Of course Haggar is a playable character, and hes right at home. This is the SNES versions, wich is a really solid conversion from the arcade original, that ate lots of my tokens, back in the days arcades were alive and fun. It was a riot with 4 players.

This is one of my main teams in mvc3. Haggar/ She-Hulk/ Spencer. I run Haggar on point for many reasons. Good battery character. Hard to one-combo kill him from start of the match. Great and simple set-ups/mix ups/grabs/ unblockables with good assists backing him. DHC's into many hypers. Great assists once he's out. Good damage output. And not the best person to have left on anchor. These are some combos i've messed around with in the lab. They start simple and get more complex/ high risk towards the end.
