Thought I'd have a go at a hand-drawn rotoscope style animation. Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame. There are 175 separate drawings/frames in this. The music is a shorter version of a piece I made called 'Exit Gravity' which is on an instrumental album I made as part of my band 'Muscovy' here: muscovy.bandcamp.com

The Definition for that word is (biology) release of material by splitting open of an organ or tissue; the natural bursting open at maturity of a fruit or other reproductive body to release seeds or spores or the bursting open of a surgically closed wound This Printed Linomation (Hand carved Animation using Linoleum prints), was done using 296 individual pieces of carved Linoleum which are 10cm squared each. its made to a loop so it can go on forever! for youtube i decided to loop it three times to show the gist of the looping. my friend Adam Dedman itscallingme.com created the sound for the Linomation Tn Lawrence ( www.lawrence.co.uk ) Helped me out very much with this animation. and i am very grateful to them! they provided me with enough linoleum for 180 pieces!!!.. due to the nature of the project!!! They are the guys i buy a majority of my equipment from, very efficient service! so other then the sound all was created by me "Mark Andrew Webber" took me around 500 hours.

Follow the adventures of Puddlenaut as he defeats legions of bad guys and faces down the final boss. He has a shark instead of an arm, and carries a deadly harpoon. Winsor McCay was an amazing illustrator with a great eye for perspective, as showcased in his groundbreaking first animation. Although some great very short animation loops had been created for Phenakistiscopes and Zoetropes since 1833, very little quality animation had been done since the invention of the movies. This one really set a very high standard and can easily compete with most hand drawn animation that has been done since. This animation was the centre piece of a 10 minute film entitled "Winsor McCay, the Famous Cartoonist of the NY Herald and His Moving Comics". The other 8 minutes involve McCay making a wager to produce 4000 drawings within 2 months and make them move. This live-action story was directed by J. Stuart Blackton, who earlier made "Humorous Phases of Funny Faces" (released in 1906 and widely regarded as the very first animation). The version presented here is said to be hand-colored by McCay himself. Here some cuts have been made to the repetitive footage that McCay looped back and forth for the original. By doing that he had probably been cheating a bit on the claim of having made 4000 drawings for this movie...

This animation was made to play behind the Prestonwood Baptist Church Choir during their 2006 Christmas concert "Gloria!". The drawings were done by hand, scanned in, and then manipulated with Photoshop. The animated reveal was mostly done with After Effects, but the first two scenes were animated frame by frame. They took over 700 individual pictures to animate. After those two, I was inspired to learn After Effects. If you have any questions about this video, please feel free to contact me.
