Hang Drum, Didgeridoo, Tuvan igil, and HAPI Drum - Spinergy
HAPI Drums available at: HapiTones.com Hang Drum, Didgeridoo, Tuvan igil, and HAPI Drum are featured in this groovy little music video. The Hang Drum was recorded using a "contact microphone" to capture and accentuate the finger taps, muted notes and hand slaps to get a percussive effect to go along with the sweet tones of the Hang. This didgeridoo was made from an agave cactus stalk. The "igil" is a bowed 2-stringed instrument from Tuva. The HAPI (Hand Activated Percussion Instrument) Drum is a melodic steel tongue drum, and in this video I'm playing a prototype that was sent to me to evaluate, though they are now in production.

HAPI Drum from HapiTones.com recorded in the new Integral Scale, key of E, also with Hang Drum and the Array Mbira featuring Patrick Hadley of Array Instruments http No effects are used on the Hapi Drum or Hang Drum, just a touch of reverb..... the monkeys love reverb! The Array Mbira's signal was run through an AdranaLinn 3 processor for sync'd filter effects and delays. The unique tone of the HAPI (hand activated percussion instrument) is created by a tuned vibrating steel tongue. The concept is similar to a wooden tongue drum. When a tongue is quickly and lightly struck with the finger or mallet it vibrates creating sound waves. We have added dampening of the notes and drum body to keep the drum from becoming discordant and "ringy". This technique is built into each drum and provides excellent resonance while supplying the correct amount of dampening. By placing low notes next to the appropriate higher notes we achieve multiple harmonics. Their vibrations create desirable overtones which compliment the timbre of the tone. my first original compliation on the hang drum filmed for youtube The hang drum is made by two people Sabina and Felix from Switzerland. They originally made the carabiean style steel drums but started make the Hang drum since 2000. Because there are only two makers in the world and because they are so popular they are very hard to get hold of. If you woul kile to purchase a Hang you need to write a letter to Sabina anf felix asking for an appointment then wait for a hand written answer when you will be invited to go to switzerland for an appointment. The earliest appointments will be in 2008 when you can go and meet the makers an select a Hang drum which has notes that suit your style of music! Hope you enjoy my songs!! love dizzi
