A lot of people don't understand why I bought all these Paragons only to replace them, so I will try to explain. In 2004, I started buying Paragons just because they were the new Neil Peart models..they sounded good enough to me at the time, and were a good weight, so I started collecting them. I didn't really consider whether or not there would be another cymbal I would like even more. I thought, well, Neil plays them, so they must be the best cymbals ever! and I thought (and still do) that they were an improvement over his old "A" Zildjians. After 24 years, I was tiring of my Zildjians as well, and was ready for a change! I didn't really start questioning my cymbal sound until I sold my 22" Zildjian K Custom Ride to help purchase the Paragon ride...I realized I preferred THAT Zildjian ride over the Paragon ride! Then I started researching and shopping, and discovered the wonderful world of Paiste, and realized...Oh...I like these crashes better too! Anyway, now I'm playing more than ever and I've started playing in my original band again , so I've decided I wanted to find MY own sound, and that's what I'm doing...yes, as much as a Neil Peart fanatic that I am! I have also learned not to go by a sound sample on a website ONLY, you've got to hear a cymbal in person, because I've heard about 4 Paragon rides in person and every one of them sounds VERY different. Anyway, I'm a big fan of cymbals and I think Paiste, Zildjian, Sabian, and Meinl are all great cymbal <b>...</b>

Well, this was a challenge! I had to listen to this song constantly for a couple of months just to get a feel for it! Danny Carey has become one of my all time favorite drummers...he is just amazing, he doesn't play like most drummers, he usually thinks outside the box. Anyway, I love the "Lateralus" CD (his cymbal sound on that recording inspired me to switch to Paiste) Anyway...I'm definitely a Tool fan (mostly because Danny Carey) now. This performance is NOT PERFECT but good enough (I hope!) I have made arrangements to be able to make my videos in my bands studio after hours, which works out great for me and I should be able to record A LOT of videos in the next few weeks!! The Mid-line 505's were made in the late 70's and early 80's and were made from the same B8 alloy as the 2002's. I will probably use a Signature Heavy Full crash over there (when I can afford it!) This is probably my favorite song of ours...especially from a songwriting aspect. I forgot to mention before, I recently picked up a dinosaur of an electronic drum pad...It's and old Roland SPD-11...It's an older unit, but a good way to introduce me to electronic percussion because I'm hooked now! Anyway, I put it to use on this song with some West African djembes, congas, bongos, Glockenspiel, etc. Thanks again for the positive feedback on our music...that means a lot to me!
