After 15 days submerged in water then put in the freezer this ioSafe portable drive was plugged in. A backup was started automatically. The drive reported no errors and ran just as well as when it wasn't frozen.

New hard drive in my EP45-UD3P system
I needed to do some work on my Q8400 system, so I recorded it. Nothing too exciting, but I put a new drive into it and hook up an eSATA bracket. I got a WD 500GB black and hook up the hard drive "slot" the Antec 200 case has on the front. Have a good one.

How not to repair a Seagate Hard Drive
Here was a funny attempt to repair a hard drive. I know it was going to fail, but I thought I'll give it a go anyway. With the spindle, there was about 50 degrees which was was a little gritty when I was turining it. Perhaps if I attached my drill to the motor and added toooo much oil. It might of helped a bit more? PS Dont try this unless your hard disk is useless. I think firmly tapping the top of the HD or giving it a rotational-jurk in the right direction might help. If that fails... try put it in the freezer for a few hours. Its helped me with past problems.

Hey guys, if you have the red ring of death basically all you have to do is unplug your xbox 360, take any games out, and put it in your freezer for 25-35 minutes, and take it out plug everything back in and start it up, works for me everytime, and can work from 1 day to 9 days, depending on how your 360 was manafactured, this DOES work, and isnt a hoax...faster and more efficient with a higher success rating than the "towel trick" or other methods.

easy way to fix disk boot failure(freeze HD to recover data)
put the hd on ziplock bag or plastic bag then wrap in clothe, place in refrigerator for about 20 minutes. remove it and warm up a little. then re install the hd and see the results. if doesn't work. check the ide cable. maybe your cable is damage or check your power supply. that connected to your hard drive. after i fixed the problem i back up all files then reformat the HD because there's a possible that the HD disk boot failure again and you do the same way again. . ^^ *NOTE* not all diskboot failure can be fix by freezing your hard drive only if you hear some rough sound in your HD. it can be possible to restore your data by doing this ref trick.

After Googling the symptom of my hard drive "click of death". I came across a few solutions: 1- Tap hard drive hard enough to make it work again 2- Freezing(I will not do) 3- Change circuit board on hard drive 4- Take it to the pro for data recovery($$$ lots of money) 5- ???? *Do not attempt this!!* This is NOT a tutorial or a how to video!! How to open a 1.5 TB Seagate FreeAgent Desk External Hard Drive
I bought two of these on sale at costco for $130, which happens to be the same price as an OEM drive straight from seagate. Basically, you get an enclosure for free. However, I wanted it as an internal drive; many people do this. Only problem - it's not very straightforward on how to get the enclosure open. In this video, I will be testing an old IBM IDE hard drive that clicks after I put data on it or format it. I decided since I really have no use for this 15 GB hard drive, I might as well do an experiment so I did the freezer method. ended up, it didn't work for me so I'm not really convinced but will definitely try on 1 or 2 other super old broken hard drives later. WD Passport Hard Drive Fail
This is my new WD Passport 320 GB Fail. As you can see, it has 296 GB free space in the video, [THAT IS NOT why I opened it and thought it was broken, I know a lot about hard drives/computers] this was due to the software installed on the drive itself. [Actual formatted capacity 298 GB] After this video, it did the click of death for about a minute, after that, it just turned off and would not spin up and my computer said 'New Hardware Found' and would not assign the hard drive a drive letter, but you still could disconnect it safely with the software. The reason I call this video a fail is because of the bad sectors, not because of the formatted capacity. [PS I hit the top platter with a screw driver opening it up thus causing a pattern on HD Tune and eventually the 'Click of Death' due to that dent in the platter screwing with the head of the drive.]
