Fred Astaire And Rita Hayworth -- "I'm Old Fashioned"

The famous dance under moonlight from their last pairing on screen: "You Were Never Lovelier" in 1942. Jerome Kern wrote the classic song "I'm Old Fashioned", with a lyric by Johnny Mercer, for this film. Looks crazy to hear Astaire (in any role) say "I am strictly from corn!", but he (the actor) really was born in Omaha! ........ Wiki reports: "Although Hayworth had a fine voice, Harry Cohn insisted on her singing being dubbed throughout by Nan Wynn.....Dance director was Val Raset, the one and only time he collaborated with Astaire, and his choreographic input into the film is unclear" Hayworth was born "in Brooklyn....she was trained as a dancer from childhood." ....... Fred Astaire, in his autobiography "Steps In Time" wrote: My first meeting with Rita was in a rehearsal hall at Columbia Studios. It was upstairs in one of the buildings and, as I recall, the stairway led directly into the large rehearsal room. As I came up the last few steps I gave a hurried glance around, expecting to see Rita, as I had been told she would be there. I didn't see her and asked one of the assistants, "Isn't Miss Hayworth going to be here this morning?" he pointed to a remote corner of the room, "Why, yes--she's been here for some time." There she was. Oh yes--a beautiful sight. Bob Alton, choreographer on the picture, brought her over and introduced us. I said, "I'm an old freind of your father's." "Yes, I know," murmured Rita. I then asked how tall she was as I stood alongside of her ...

GILDA TRAILER 1946 RITA HAYWORTH FILM NOIR

Re-release tariler for the steamy 1946 film noir classic, GILDA, starring Rita Hayworth, Glenn Ford and George Macready. Universally dismissed by the critics at the time of its initial release, GILDA did solid box-office ($3.8 million) and has become recarding as one of the iconic films in the film noir genre. The screen just doesn't get much hotter than Hayworth's famous "Put the Blame on mame" number. Put the Blame on Mame Rita Hayworth Gilda

Put the Blame on Mame www.shanagrant.com "Put the Blame on Mame" is a song by Allan Roberts and Doris Fisher, originally made for the film Gilda in 1946 - where it was sung by the title character, played by Rita Hayworth and with the singing voice actually that of Anita Kert Ellis. In keeping with the film character Gilda being "the ultimate femme fatale", the song sung by her at two scenes facetiously credits the amorous activities of a woman named "Mame" (the name evidently chosen to rhyme with "blame") as the true cause of three well-known cataclysmic events in American history The Great Chicago Fire of 1871, Great Blizzard of 1888 in New York City and the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Mame is also credited with causing the fictional Shooting of Dan McGrew during the Yukon Gold Rush - an event derived from a short narrative poem published in 1907 by Robert W. Service. Already in 1946, the song was also recorded by Nat Gonella & His Georgians. Put the Blame on Mame also appeared as a mini-short film for "Smooth Criminal" for Michael Jackson's This Is It. Shortly after Gilda sings the song, Jackson is chased down the stairs and into a hardware store floor, where he jumps out of the window, and was supposedly to land on the stage and shoot a marqee behind him. The song was later reprised as an instrumental version in 1953's "The Big Heat", when "Gilda" star Glenn Ford first meets Lee Marvin's character in a bar.

Rita Hayworth jumps in the line

From my former channel et7waage. First published on: 28 August 2007 Former views: 126.123 Making this video was such fun. I could hardly sit still a minute! I truly enjoyed editing all of these Rita Hayworth clips to Harry Belafonte's uplifting song "Jump in the Line". I hope you like it! :-) Some of you might notice that the picture quality of the video is better than on my old channel. That's because I remastered it! I was never very satisfied with the quality of the old version so that I finally took the time to improve it.

Charlie Chan in Egypt - Warner Oland & Rita Hayworth

"Waiting for tomorrow, waste of today." Charlie Chan's international travels take him to an archeological dig in Egypt in this episode. During the unearthing of an ancient pyramid, an archeologist disappears, eventually turning up dead. The mystery in this one is particularly good, although the identity of the killer seems slightly arbitrary. The sinister plot is complex and full of exciting twists. Rita Hayworth in an early role for her is the guest star of note in this Chan entry; she's billed as Rita Cansino.

Fred Astaire & Rita Hayworth - The Shorty George

From film You Were Never Lovelier Columbia Picture (1942) Director: William A. Seiter Screenplay: Michael Fessier, Ernest Songs: by Jerome Kern and Johnny You Were Never Lovelier was Rita's third and last film released in 1942 and her second time as Fred Astaire's dancing partner. Except for "The Shorty George" number, all their dances were rehearsed in the attic of a funeral parlor! They had to stop every time a funeral procession came through and couldn't start up again until all the mourners had left. But if those conditions disrupted rehearsals, it didn't show on-screen. The results were fabulous. Rita later called this movie one of her favorites, but it was also memorable to her for another reason. During rehearsals of "The Shorty George", Rita experienced one of her "most embarrassing" moments when she fell down during the dance and knocked herself out cold! The film is set in what was one of Hollywood's favorite locales at the time, Buenos Aires, and also features Xavier Cugat and his Orchestra to add to the Latin flavor of this memorable musical. claudia79.tripod.com
