How to Do the Heel Toe

Keeping your feet in close makes it easier to maintain balance. The Hop Put your right foot forward. Lift your right foot, putting your weight onto your left leg. Hop forward with your left foot while swinging your right leg back. Land the hop with your right foot behind you. Since this is the basis of the heel toe, it's best to practice it a few times. Heel Toe The heel toe aspect comes in when you're landing the hop. When you land, the heel of your left foot should be touching the ground. The toe of your right foot should be touching the ground, and it should be behind you. Switching Feet To switch to the other foot, hop forward with your right foot while swinging your left leg back. The toe of your left foot should be behind you touching the ground, and the heel of your right foot should be touching the ground. To practice switching feet, do three heel toes in a row, starting with your right foot forward. The Turn The next part of this is, right after landing a hop, turn the foot in front of you out away from your body. For example, if you're hopping on the left foot, it'll land forward on the heel. For those who use a double pedal and for those who don't use Axis Pedals. This video prooves that it's not what pedals you use, but how you use them. you don't need the best gear in the world to play good. ignore the squeaking, the pedals are ancient Premier 6077s....very old. Common answers to questions before commenting. 1. The beaters are the other way around because this is done by most metal drummers so if you are NOT using triggers you can get a much more punch out of the kick drum head. More attack. This sounds better during a gig. 2. The pedal is my ancient Premier. Originally learnt the technique on this pedal. Heel-Toe can be played on any pedal! As long as it's set right. 3. No I don't use any muffling apart from the rings on the head. This is none inside the kick drum. This is for an incredible low end presence during a live show or work in the studio. 4. Please check out my other videos. The video 'Basics' explains how the foot motion works. It's better to check that vid out before this one.youtu.be 5. The kick drum head is not loose. My kit is configured for live shows. Thundering kick drums matter. Flat dead one don't. Let the drums sing. 6.
