Charlton Heston's film debut - Peer Gynt (1941)

Charlton Heston; From My Cold Dead Hands. Long Version

My hero, Mr. Charlton Heston. "From my cold dead hands" THE SECOND AMENDMENT VINDICATED! The Court said; "'The people' . . . unambiguously refers to all members of the political community" and "The very text of the Second Amendment implicitly recognizes the pre-existence of the right and declares only that it 'shall not be infringed.'" -United States Supreme Court www.newsbull.com Obama gun facts; www.gunbanobama.com Charlton Heston's closing remarks at the 2000 NRA annual meeting in Charlotte North Carolina. He was a very fine American. Those five words; From MY Cold Dead Hands. This man was a true Patriot. Freedom of the individual. Governments derive their just power from the governed (the people). People should not fear their government, their government should fear the people. He believed in personal freedom so much that he gave the last good years of his life to freedoms cause. He was basically spat on by the not so far left, and ridiculed by the left. He definitely served his country well. Back during this speech the NRA was having internal conflicts about how to fight those who would take our liberties away. Some were of the notion that we had to be bold and radical in defending our rights no matter who we offended, while others wanted a more balanced approach that didn't alienate the average gun owner. Mr Heston gave to us the last good years of his life bringing the NRA back together and making it the force for freedom that it is today, and I thank him for that ...

Charlton Heston in Space; "Does Man...Still Make War against His Brother?" Planet of the Apes (1968)

This is one of my favorite movies ever. I'll never forget at the end of the movie when he realizes that he is back home and that we had blown ourselves up, and then he damned us all to hell. Other than Charlton Heston damning us all to hell, it's a really good movie, and I would recommend it to anyone. When I first started watching this movie I was thinking, what are the odds of landing on another planet and finding apes that speak English? Because of that I thought the movie was a little bit far fetched until at the end when he found the statue of liberty, then it all made sense. I think it's kind of cool how he's smoking a cigar in a space ship. I really like how he puts it in his pocket before he goes into deep hibernation, like he's saving it for later, just in case they don't have cigars in the future. Very smart thinking on his part. jbranstetter04 Plot Planet of the Apes is a 1968 science fiction/thriller film directed by Franklin J. Schaffner loosely based on the novel La planète des singes by Pierre Boulle. The film stars Charlton Heston, Roddy McDowall, Kim Hunter and veteran Shakespearean actor Maurice Evans. The film was ground-breaking for its make-up techniques by artist John Chambers. The script was originally written by Rod Serling but had many rewrites before eventually being made. Changes included character names and a more primitive ape society, instead of the more expensive idea of having futuristic buildings and advanced technology. The film was well ...

Charlton Heston v. Ice-T's Cop Killer and Time Warner

Charlton Heston was a great American who always stood up for what he thought was right, no matter what the personal cost to himself. Back in the 60's he stood next to and marched with Martin Luther King Jr. when it was not the popular thing to do. He not only talked the talk, he walked the walk; he was a man of character. -jbranstetter04 HESTON TAKING ON TIME WARNER'S PROMOTION OF "COP KILLER" ALBUM (Conversation between host Tony Snow and Charlton Heston) SNOW: "You have one of the great voices in the entertainment world. HESTON: "That was that terrible album by Ice T called 'Cop Killer.' And I'm very proud of this, I really am. I owned some Time Warner stock and I went in and confronted their full board meeting and read the lyrics. I can't repeat them on television." SNOW: "No, you can't." HESTON: "And I shamed Time Warner, the largest entertainment conglomerate in the world, into firing Ice T and dropping the album. Now, he threatened to kill me. He hasn't done that yet." SNOW: "I believe your quote was something like 'Let him try.'" HESTON: "Well, maybe I scared him. And I haven't gotten a job from Warner Brothers since or a good notice in Time, but I'm as proud of that as anything I've ever done." Charlton Heston

Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84. The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side, family spokesman Bill Powers said. Powers declined to comment on the cause of death or provide further details. "Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played," Heston's family said in a statement. "No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country." With his large, muscular build, well-boned face and sonorous voice, Heston proved the ideal star during the period when Hollywood was filling movie screens with panoramas depicting the religious and historical past. "I have a face that belongs in another century," he often remarked. Publicist Michael Levine, who represented Heston for about 20 years, said the actor's passing represented the end of an iconic era for cinema. "If Hollywood had a Mt. Rushmore, Heston's face would be on it," Levine said. "He was a heroic figure that I don't think exists to the same degree in Hollywood today." The actor assumed the role of leader offscreen as well. Charlton Heston Tribute

Here is an inspirational song performed by the great Mahalia Jackson, chosen to illustrate the fabulous figure of Charlton Heston, an all-American hero. Charlton Heston (born John Charles Carter; 1923 -- 2008) was an American actor of film, theater and television. A brawny, virile classical actor whose physical presence, intelligent performances and authoritative voice left a distinctive mark on fifty years of Hollywood filmmaking, his career encompassed roles in numerous historical epics, period dramas, and Hollywood adventure films. At his best in the 1950's and 1960's, Heston continued to play leading roles through the 1990's and was also called upon to lend his voice or imposing stature to certain supporting roles no one quite as large ever really emerged to fill. Heston is best remembered for his heroic roles, such as Moses in "The Ten Commandments", Colonel George Taylor in "Planet of the Apes" and Judah Ben-Hur in "Ben-Hur", the role for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor. In the 1950's and 1960's he was one of a handful of Hollywood actors to speak openly against racism and was an active supporter of the Civil Rights Movement. Heston earned recognition for his appearance in his first professional movie, "Dark City", a 1950 film noir. His breakthrough came when Cecil B. DeMille cast him as a circus manager in "The Greatest Show on Earth", which was named by the Motion Picture Academy as the best picture of 1952. Heston's puff pastry mince pies - Waitrose

bit.ly - Heston conjures up the ambiance of Christmas in a mince pie. Last year it became the most coveted Christmas pudding as Heston gave it his own twist. This year, it's the turn of the humble mince pie as Heston transforms this traditional Christmas treat - not only will his new mince pies tantalise your taste buds, they'll flirt with your nostrils too. The mince pie recipe is a Heston original, with a novel filling of zesty lemon curd, aromatic rose water, apple puree mixed with lemon and orange juice to deliver a moist texture and rich flavour. In a further move away from the traditional mince pie, Heston uses all-butter puff pastry instead of shortcrust to create a lighter texture. Finally, to create the unique and innovative pine scent, just warm the pies through and then sprinkle them with the pine-scented sugar that will envelope the kitchen with the warming Christmas tree aroma. The Fat Duck Book will be carefully separated into the following three sections: Part I, History: Heston's improbable background and the unorthodox path he took to acheive his goal; his early ideas and early days running The Fat Duck, as well as his philosophy for what a food should be and what a chef's responsibility is in forwarding cuisine. Part II, Recipes: For the first time ever, a large selection of recipes from the award-winning restaurant. Some are broken down into their many component parts, but they will remain very "cheffy." Part III, Science: The science of it all, the technology and implements that make the dishes work. Various food scientists and taste experts will contribute to this section.
