To kick off July, and with nothing going on along the NS Harrisburg Line on July 1, 2010, I decided to take a trip to Amtrak Keystone Corridor in the beautiful Lancaster Countryside. There were even some Norfolk Southern bonuses, as well as Strasburg! We visit all 3 grade crossings on the Keystone Corridor as well as some new locations from the previous video. Upon arrival to Newcomers Road in Mt. Joy, I missed the first eastbound Amtrak, train 642, after making a wrong turn and getting stuck behind slow drivers. 607 wasn't too far off so I figured I'd just recline in the car when all of a sudden the gates went down! I was really confused, stumbled out of the car and plopped the camera down, unfortunately I was on the backlit side of the tracks, but to my surprise, there was an eastbound NS local! I do apologize, it's not that great of a shot. H2J - Mt. Joy (Newcomers Road) NS GP38-2 5673 The rest of the day pretty much continues with the normal Amtrak runs until later in the day with a visit to Strasburg, and finishing off with an NS local. There was typical railfan luck, including getting cloud smucked and wind terrorized, but overall it was a fantastic outing. This was the first visit to both crossings in Mt. Joy, as well as a shot at Gordonville and Gap, and I was surprised to find the PRR position lights were removed from Irishtown, they also put an E-Bell on the south crossbuck, which this crossing had previously had no audio warning devices. 607 - Mt. The Amtrak "Adirondack" and "Vermonter" are featured in this video. 10-11-09 Amtrak 68 heads south bound along Lake Champlain (the natural border to New York and Vermont). The location is just south of Port Henry, New York. I set up just in time (a little unlevel I think), the train was running over 25 minutes late and I also arrived late because I kept stopping for pictures of the amazing Vermont foliage on the way, plus the Bridge To New York is under construction and we sat for several minutes. Thank goodness no cars were coming! Several other fans were up on the rock cliff. P42DC 16 leads the train, which features the Adirondack dome car. 10-13-09 Just south of Montpelier along Route 12, Amtrak 55 bangs along a mix of jointed and welded rail on NECR's mainline. Although there is some snow in this shot, just a few miles north in Montpelier there was about 1.5 inches on the ground and was the first snowfall of the season. This train runs push-pull due to the wye at Essex Jct. towards Burlington and back. P42DC's 108 and 103 power the train; some foliage can be seen here, although much of it is in the Green Mountains, you haven't seen foliage until you take route 125 in the fall! Later, we catch up to the train at White River Junction, we beat it because we can travel fast down I89. It was on time and arrives at 11:05 AM. There was no snow this far south, but some rain. There is some foliage here too; also, the Vermont Railway's Green Mountain White River Flyer is <b>...</b>

Dragon Tail - 11 miles of road with 318 curves. A great drive with the top down and especially for motorcycles. One end is at Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort and the other end is at the entrance to the Foothills Parkway. Most of the road is in Tennessee. This was our second time on the tail....the first time was last fall with all the fall foliage. Both times with the top down on the convertible - which accounts for some of the windshield glare. Sorry about that - but was too beautiful a day to leave it up! Last time we drove the Dragon, we saw 3 wrecks - all motorcycles - so be careful. Don't end up with bits and pieces on the Tree of Shame! The day we drove this for the photos and movie, we counted SEVEN cops - almost all speed traps. Enjoy - but drive safely. On Friday, May 27, The Joint Line ATCS showed a train running south on a northbound track, which mind you is rare in these parts. I immediately headed to Palmer Lake to intercept the train, and it was quite action packed. Different railroads, interesting shots, wrong way running etc... has made this first catch of the day a good catch! Enjoy the video! Feedback welcome. Train 1: After I arrived, the southbound train, was chugging up the wrong mainline to Palmer Lake. Apparently, the train suffered an Integrity Failure....whatever the hell that is. I chased the Santa Fe 3751 on the "Grand Canyon Limited" May 18-19 of 2012 from Williams AZ to Cajon Junction CA. Both days were very long (May 18th being an 12 hour day for me) and got plenty of shots of 3751. Had some good times with friends and met some new people. 4/29/2012-Perryville, MD: Wound up taking a quick Sunday trip to Perryville, MD, after a change of plans (was supposed to go to St. Denis, but it was too far away and too late in the day to go). Anyway, we'll catch three Amtrak trains along the NEC at Perryville, all with friendly crews. Then, after eating lunch, we'll head over to East Aiken along the CSX Philly Sub. After a bit of waiting, CSX Q373-29 called the signal at Belvedere, and shortly afterward, rounded the curve at East Aiken. Boy was it worth the wait. The engineer (which I guess is the side with the radio on original CSX SD40-2's rather than the conductor's side) said "knocking down the signal at East Aiken" over the radio, which was interesting to hear. Q373 was an all standard cab EMD lash-up, with a GP15T (Turbocharged GP15) in tow, too! Note the friendly wave from the conductor: CSX SD40-2 8094 (Nice K5LA) CSX SD50-2 8597?
