STORY: One of the most popular attractions is a robot named "Murata Girl, which is capable of riding a bicycle and a unicycle. With several positioning, motion, and shock control sensors attached to its body, the robot is capable of detecting obstacles while balancing on its own. [Shigeki Fukunaga, Robot Engineer]: "Technology and idea-wise it's simple because we just had to program the robot to balance back and forth instead sideways like we did with the bicycle-riding robot." we visited a high-tech company in santa fe that's running 3-d models on what the wallow fire is doing. we got a detailed look at the types of vegetation and the topography that fire fighters are dealing with. gadi schwartz is live from santa fe with a look. gadi? 2 of these high tech simulation tables are in serve new mexico right now- being used to track the fire and give a very detailed image on how it's burning. sand -- a high tech projector- and google earth are at the core of a 3-d simulation that is modeling the giant wallow fire- burning toward new mexico "when a fire gets this big- mother nature is in control and the winds are going to be the biggest factor." with the point of a laser- you can see that if the winds continue- the fire could continue to burn towards the town of luna on the new mexico side of the border. this is how the wallow fire has progressed looking southwest- since it started. "what we see is it really scooped up and grew significantly." the simulator shows topography - that will play an important role in how the fire moves and how firefighters will try and stop it. on the new mexico side- some ridges could prove difficult. with the sim table its also easy to see just how close an important power line in new mexico is to the fire. this blackine here is a power line that is running from the palo verde nuclear power plant and supplies much of southern new mexico and east texas. it also shows the types of vegetation that could slow the fire on its <b>...</b>
