The song was sung by Jerry Scoggins (backed by Flatt and Scruggs) over the opening and end credits of each episode. It was #44 on the music charts in 1962 and a #1 country hit. Flatt and Scruggs also had another Billboard country top ten hit with the comic "Pearl, Pearl, Pearl," an ode to the feminine charms of Miss Pearl Bodine who was featured in the episode "Jed Throws a Wingding," the first of several Flatt and Scruggs appearances on the show. The six main cast members participated on a 1963 Columbia Records soundtrack album which featured original song numbers in character. Donna Douglas (born September 26, 1933) is an American actress best known for her role as Elly May Clampett, in the long-running television series The Beverly Hillbillies. The turning point in Douglas's career came when she was chosen to play the role of the tomboy Elly May Clampett on The Beverly Hillbillies. She starred on the program for all nine seasons, along with Buddy Ebsen, Irene Ryan, Max Baer Jr, Nancy Kulp, and Raymond Bailey. The Beverly Hillbillies became the number one show in America in its first two years. Main cast JD "Jed" Clampett Although he had received little formal education, Jed Clampett has a good deal of common sense. A good-natured man, he is the apparent head of the family. Jed's wife (Elly May's mother) died but is referred to in the episode "Duke Steals A Wife" as Rose Ellen. Jed is shown to be an expert marksman and is extremely loyal to his family and kinfolk. Charlie Bowman(fiddle), Al Hopkins(vocal) and the Original Hillbillies from 1926. Charles Thomas "Charlie" Bowman was the fiddler with the original Al Hopkin's Hill Billies, the first country string band to gain national notoriety on radio and records. The group is generally thought to be responsible for establishing the string band as an important part of country music. When the recording company asked for the group's name, one member mentioned that they were just an "old band of hill billies." The name stuck. Bowman is credited with bringing the Hill Billies their most popular song, "Nine Pound Hammer".

Grannie has her back up and is determined to return home. Partly because the police made the family get rid of all the farm animals Jed purchased and corralled in a tennis court. Also she just doesn't like the attitude of the people of Beverly Hills declaring that, "this place if full of the laziest, greasiest, unfriendliest mess of people I ever did lay my eyes on." Ellie may has an agreement with Jed to wear dresses for three whole days. If she doesn't have just as much fun in a dress as she does climbing trees and "wraslin" she gets to go back to wearing pants and shirts. Jethrine makes her first appearance in the series and Jed invites Pearl and Jethrine to come for a visit. Finally, the whole family goes out to trick or treat. Also in this episode, Jethro takes some hard falls from upstairs for calling Elly May a city girl. Jethro never learns. The mystery music continues.
