I have been improving my levels by critical and meticulous listening to the master-works of the legends of Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal & Instrumental). Indian Classical Music - Raag Bilawal - Tintal

This particular composition is the tune for the Shabad "Tere Gun Gavan Deh Bujhayee" . I accompanied Beant Singh, Birmingham Wale on Tabla as he sang this in a casual, private ( 3 persons ) , Kirtan session at the GNNSJ Gurudwara on SOHO Road in Birmingham. It's been stuck in my head ever since (in a good way). Beant Singh said it's a modified version of a composition he heard from recordings of Ragi Samund Singh Ji. It's Quite upbeat , and yet touching If you read the meanings - I love it . Anyway , here's whatever I remember from what Beant Singh sang + a few improvisations + a few mistakes. Exclusive Interview on KJ Yesudas with Manorama news P 2

Kattassery Joseph Yesudas (born January 10, 1940) is one of the most eminent Indian classical musicians and leading Playback singer of film songs in many Indian languages. KJ Yesudas was born in Fort Kochi, Kerala to Augustine Joseph and Elizabeth Joseph. His father, who was his first guru (teacher), was a well-known Malayalam classical musician and stage actor of his time. He joined the Music Academy in Thrippunithura and won a gold medal for music at a local competition in Fort Kochi at age seven. He was trained by Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar who was one of the senior most performers of the time in Classical Music, and this training, abruptly cut short by the guru's demise in 1974, still stood him in good stead. He was scoffed at for being a Christian learning Carnatic music. Although a Carnatic expert he also learned Hindustani Music. His voice lends itself well to both Indian classical, devotional, and popular songs.
