Allan Holdsworth - Chord Scales

Tab: www.mediafire.com Found this video online and can't seem to find it on youtube. Seeing Allan Holdsworth's lessons online is a rarity, even with the fact that the whole world is able to upload videos online. Basically, Allan is talking about using diatonic chords of a key, in other words, harmonizing the scale. Theory: The reason Allan picked the key E major after he introduced the E major 7 chord is because the Emaj7 is the tonic of the "E major" scale.

Purchase the Chad Wackerman recording "40 Reasons" from his official website to own this and many other fantastic songs for an extremely reasonable price. Don't be shy: google. "Released in 1992, this is ...[from]... an instructional video that also includes about 40 minutes of Allan and his band playing several songs." (quoting the former website from whence this video came.) The band consists of Steve Hunt (k), Skúli Sverrisson (b), and Chad Wackerman (d)."

Edited by Renato Sommexe, in this video recorded in frankfurt 1986 we have the chance to see Alan, Gary Husband on drums, Jimmy Johnson on Bass and the amazing extraordinary Key akagi on keys at the time using the best keyboards available, yamaha CP80 for pianos and Yamaha DX7 for synth sounds, sometimes stealing the scene showing a tremendous intimacy with alan's complicated compositions, some of them not featuring keyboads in the original recording, in others replacing the also magnificent Alan Pasqua a long term partner in alan's career. Key akagi also can be seen here at youtube on Miles Davis tour in a Kitaro Look due to the long hair. Also alike is his presence in one of Dimeola's 80's shows and you can hear his improvisations along with tavaglione's wind controller synth solos in gambale's alive album which I long to see one day in video also, if someone has it please get in touch, let's share.

City Nights (Allan Holdsworth) 2010 COVER

www.jasper-barendregt.com For more information about this cover, please visit my blog about this video here blogs.myspace.com 'To achieve this result I loaded the original track into my Digi003, programmed midi notes over every single note of each instrument (except the drums), replicated the sound of the guitar, the bass, the keyboards & synthesizers and the bells as far as I could, pre-mixed the song and made it record-ready, recorded & played drums, mixed and mastered the track with Joris Bonis. (We added a bit of the original guitar to make it sound like a guitar actually being played).'
