For more skeptical coverage of bogus products like homeopathy go to www.skepticnorth.com and www.ottawaskeptics.org Show description: Erica Johnson investigates one of the country's fastest growing alternative health treatments: homeopathy. Ontario homeopaths are about to become the first province in Canada to regulate homeopathy — lending credibility to this unproven practice. Canada's leading consumer ally takes a long hard look at the theories, and the remedies. For the first time in Canada, we conduct a test of homeopathic medicines, investigating the science behind these so-called medicines. In light of our results, we ask both the Ontario government and Health Canada why they are lending credibility to the homeopathic industry. Johnson also meets up with a rep from the world's leading manufacturer of homeopathic medicines, who admits that even the company says how homeopathty works is a mystery. Watch, as we witness a Vancouver group of skeptics (CFI) taking part in a group overdose of homeopathic remedies. Perhaps most disturbing we learn that some homeopaths are treating cancer patients with homeopathic remedies. A leading cancer specialist says there is no role for homeopathy in the treatment of cancer, that it is a "scam that is not evidence-based."

Homeopathy helped me to live a normal life

Patient and British Homeopathic Association Trustee Lauren Vaknine talks about how homeopathy has helped her live a normal life. She believes that without homeopathy she would have ended up in a wheelchair due to her Rheumatoid Arthritis which she was diagnosed with at the age of 2. The British Homeopathic Association which is the sister organisation of the Faculty of Homeopathy exists to promote homeopathy practised by doctors and other healthcare professionals. We strongly believe that homeopathy should be fully integrated into the healthcare system and available as a treatment choice for everyone. As a charity founded in 1902, we have a long-established reputation for providing authoritative information and supporting research and training in homeopathy. Homeopathy: Cure or Con? Marketplace CBC

CBC's Marketplace examines homeopathy in this week's episode. Homeopathic remedies take an ingredient — from a plant, animal or mineral — and dilute it repeatedly with water. The theory is that water retains the memory of the original ingredient. Practitioners say the more dilutions there are, the stronger the remedy. Critics say homeopathic treatments do nothing, putting people in danger as they delay getting conventional medical treatments. Supporters counter that it works on everything from headaches to cancer, even if they can't explain why. CBC asked a chemist with the University of Toronto to analyze two popular homeopathic remedies. Watch the full Marketplace investigation to see the results. Origin: www.cbc.ca

If homeopathy works ... I'll drink my own piss

I quick experiment to show how homeopathy works. I thought I really ought to correct some of the inaccuracies in the video. Rather than removing or re-filming the video, heres a list of corrections: 1. I keep incorrectly pronouncing succussion as succession. It should be sus-sussion 2. To make the 1C dilution I should have added my 1ml of piss to 99ml of water, not 100 ml 3. Although I rinsed the pipette after the first succession, I should really have used a clean pipette each time Other than that, I think its about right, it really is that silly
