Recorded in Janaury 2004. The video begins with a nice view of Waikiki from my balcony at the Hyatt Regency. After a brief tour of the Hyatt Regency I made my way down to the beach across from the hotel. Next I went to the top of the Aloha Tower. The Aloha Tower is a lighthouse that is considered one of the premier landmarks of the state of Hawaii. Opened on September 11, 1926, the Aloha Tower is located at Pier 9. It has and continues to be a guiding beacon welcoming vessels to the City of Honolulu. At 10 stories and 184 feet of flag mast, for four decades the Aloha Tower was the tallest structure in Hawaii. Next I journeyed into downtown Honolulu and visited the State Capitol and Iolani Palace. The video concludes as I look out onto the Pacific Ocean from the far west side of Oahu. From: timvp.com

A cover was done by Richard and Karen Carpenter in 1978, but the song was not released until 1986 on a single, and 1989 on an album.

Honolulu City Lights" is a song composed by Keola Beamer in the early 1970s. Richard and Karen were vacationing in Hawaii in 1977 when they heard the Beamer Brothers' recording of "Honolulu City Lights." They liked it and recorded it in 1978 during the same sessions as the Christmas song recordings for what was intended to have been a 10th-anniversary album. But circumstances intervened and the album was never released. The recording was released on a 45 rpm single in 1986, three years after Karen's death, and the song finally appeared on the "Lovelines" album in 1989.

Meanwhile, within the heavily guarded compound where the summit took place, renowned Hawaiian musician and guitarist Makana carried out his own act of protest. Makana had been invited to play instrumental music at the gala dinner Saturday night. At the dinner, Makana opened his jacket to reveal a t-shirt which read, "Occupy with Aloha." Then instead of performing the background instrumental he was scheduled to play, he started to sing a protest song he had released earlier that day. As world leaders, including Obama and Chinese Premier Hu Jintao, sat in the audience, Makana sang his new song inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, "We are the Many." "I started out very subtlety and subliminally, and I was like, 'ye come here, gather on stage. The time has come for us to voice our rage,'" Makana says. "Then I realized that, 'Wow!
