We now move back indoors for this next new series. This is the recently held model railway show by the Warley model railway club. It's one of the biggest in the UK & held every year at the NEC in Birmingham uk. So to kick this series off we take a brief look at the Hornby Stand. My new Hornby DCC Elite controller.The inner loop is Part wired up for DCC & is been used to test & try out the Hornby Elite DCC unit.This is one of the first loco's that I've fitted a decoder(TCS T1).It's a Heljan Falcon also following up from behind is a Bachmann class 24 also on DCC (fitted with a Bachmann 8 pin ez command 3 function decoder).See if you can spot the wagon fitted with the Noch track cleaning axle units, it's in the train been pulled by the Bachmann class 24. Also of note is the Pullman Coaches behind Falcon.All but the rear coach are Bachmann MK1's,the rear coach is a steel sided Pullman brake by Hornby.All these coaches have working table lamps, which been on dcc will stay lit.These coaches have not got decoders fitted to them.

"PLEASE WATCH IN HD!" This is the new Hornby Class 60 in the British Steel/EWS livery numbered as 60033 that is a brand new model from the Hornby 2011 modern image locomotive range. The model features the striking British Steel Blue livery with the EWS "Lions" on the cab sides and is one of only two locomotives to wear this livery until around 2000 when Corus took over British Steel. The only other locomotive that had this livery is 60006 and now both of these Class 60's wear the shiney (and in my opinion less tasteful) silver Corus livery. Although both are no longer in service and they are now both stored at Toton Traction Depot in a rather sorry looking state. The model has a 8-pin DCC socket with a selector switch for the headlights for day and night model. I do intend to fit a sound decoder in this beast at a later date (well it would be rude not to, wouldn't it? ;)). I give top marks to Hornby for making this cracking model and I think every modern era OO gauge layout should have a Hornby Class 60 on it somewhere. I have no critics whatsoever about this model, so a big well done to Hornby. I hope they bring out 60006 at a later date either in Corus or British Steel livery to compliment this one. Overall Rating: 10/10

This is my Hornby Dublo 3 rail layout which I started to build in 2005. Most of the electrics are done. Here we see a Southern EMU from 1962-1964 running along side a re painted standard class 4MT as Well as Bristol Castle and A 8F

Converting the Hornby Toby into a J70 Additional supplies not mentioned: Hornby Toby, clear plasticard, exacto knife, fine cotton, Hornby Class 60 Accessory Pack and Brass shim. General steps: 1) Cut down body by 2 wooden planks & sand remaining 1 plank away till even 2) Using hand drill, drill several holes to cut out windows and door frames. After drilling several holes cut them using a connect the dots method with exacto knife. 3) Cut glue stick caps to fit over motor, these will become the boiler. Then mount on brass shim trimmed to fit inside body. The nails will be the chimney and water pipe and will also insure boiler halves sit level. 4) Remove existing buffer beam hook and carefully remove buffers. Lower buffers on beam, using brass shim create a small strip, this strip will carry the numbers. 5) Glue in clear plasticard for the windows. Using Dremel, file away the raised part on the motor chassis where the body screw connects to the body. Then Paint interior and glue in interior details to top body half and check for clearance of motor worm screw. 6) If all works, glue and add additional details as required. Decals are from Jackson Evans. The lamp can be moved to either end using the hooks. Feel free to ask questions. Look for Toby's face in an up coming Thomas the tank weekend.

Its been a while since I have bought anything in OO gauge as I have recently been working on my N gauge layout, but this new Hornby MkIII DVT (Driving Van Trailer) in Virgin Trains was too good to miss! The model cost me £45 from Trains4U in Peterborough where some critics say the price might be a tad steep, but this is a super detailed model and it features head and tail lights as well as a cab light when the train is working in "push" mode. The fleetnumber is 82150 and the model also has opening cab doors as well. I have used my Hornby Class 60 which is my beast 60008 in EWS livery and 4 MkIII carriages for the test rake which I have rented Nathan's YMR layout to test the "Dreamliner" Express train on. Unfortunately when the train was tested in push mode, it derailed three times. But this was due to the NEM couplers on the last two carriages towards the locomotive sliding under each other and nothing to do with the DVT being at fault at all. It is a very well made OO gauge model from Hornby and I intend getting the ONE anglia DVT as my next purchase in OO gauge. Comments & Ratings Welcome!

Here is a review of my birthday present that I received from my family which is the Hornby Class 43 HST in East Midlands Trains livery. The power cars are very nicely modelled and feature either the serck or the voith cooler group as there is two central mounted fans which rotate when the model is in motion and it looks very cool. I have two carriages which I have also reviewed in this video with the HST pack as I intend to build a full eight-car rake to go with these HST power cars as I think it would be cool running on a larger layout. The power cars in the pack are 43055 (powered) and 43048 "TCBMiller MBE" (unpowered) in the striking East Midlands Trains livery, and this is one of the best premium Hornby Models that I have reviewed so far. The models are in the 1:76 OO gauge scale and are DCC ready. Overall Rating: 10/10

Originally by the GNR and then LNER, this stunning reproduction of the classic N2 locomotive by Hornby is without a doubt one of the smoothest runners I've ever encountered. Low speed/high speed/over express points - nothing seems to get in the way of how well she runs. I'm sure she'll make a fine addition to my layout. Thank you Nick (LMS16440) for such a great gift!

This is quite an odd one! She can run on both electric AND diesel. As far as the model goes, she's one of the smoothest and most reliable models I have! The detail is only average but more than good enough. I think I'll use her for a permanent way train!
