Humpback Whales Breaching

This is an awesome video with footage provided and owned exclusively by the Whale Video Company and Dolphin Fleet whale watching boat, of wonderful and uplifting footage of whales breeching (jumping out of the water) off Cape Cod in the North Eastern United States. It is believed whales breech for attracting a mate but maybe for other reasons such as removing barnacles from their bodies, communication, and intimidation or to just simply show off and enjoy themselves. For whatever reason they do it, it's incredible and wonderful to watch

Oceans: Humpback whales

AUSTRALIAN RELEASE DATE: 26 MAY OFFICIAL SITE: www.hopscotchfilms.com.au Nearly three-quarters of the Earth's surface is covered by water and Oceans boldly chronicles the mysteries that lie beneath. Directors Jacques Perrin and Jacques Cluzaud (Travelling Birds) dive deep into the very waters that sustain all of mankind, exploring the harsh reality and the amazing creatures that live within. An astonishing look at the world of the oceans, with never-seen-before imagery captured by the latest underwater technology, it is awe-inspiring stuff. Shot over four years, it reveals inspiring wildlife, including endangered marine species. Not a standard nature documentary, its also part thriller and part meditation on the vanishing wonders of the aquatic world. It's a powerful celebration of our underwater world; a world that requires our attention. Visually spectacular yet with a salient eco-message, it will mesmerise and educate in equal measure - Oceans is already one of the most successful documentaries of all time grossing almost $100 million to date. Check out the images on the right for the astonishing array of marine life that is featured in the film.

Humpback Whale songs

Humpback Whale songs provided by nature, video of humpback whales provided by aquaticadventures.com Music: Where Sky Meets Sea by Kendra Springer creativecommons.org For eons the song of the humpbacks could be heard in the oceans of the world, today their numbers are dwindling and I hope it's not final curtain call for the Humpback Whale songs. The estimations of the current population vary widely: some speak of 5000-7000 animals, and others of 12000-14000 animals. Even if there were 14000 animals, that would only be a fraction of the originally estimated population of approximately 115000 animals. The humpback whale's existence is, therefore, considered endangered. They received full protection by the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 1963, but are still hunted illegally. Currently there are many efforts being made to save these animals.

Humpback Whale Entangled in Cray-Pot Ropes

For more news visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Follow us on Facebook ☛ facebook.com Rescue efforts are underway to free a humpback whale trapped in ropes off the coast of Western Australia. It's a difficult operation because divers cannot be used... and time is running out. A humpback whale became entangled in ropes off the coast of Western Australia on Tuesday. Television footage shot on Wednesday shows the 36 foot humpback moving through the water with ropes from a crayfish pot wrapped around its body. Officials from the Department of Environment and Conservation have attached a satellite tracking device to the trailing ropes so the mammal can be followed and freed once weather permits. Untangling the whale could be a difficult operation, as divers cannot be used. A small boat will pull alongside the mammal so workers can reach the ropes. The Department of Environment and Conservation is on the job. [Doug Coughran, Department of Environment and Conservation]: "It's very important that we take it at a steady pace." The whale has the rope across its pectoral fin and around its body with about 32 foot trailing behind it. There are fears if the ropes are not removed the whale might eventually die.

They all feed on grasses and fly weakly, low over the ground, and have thus produced locally distributed species on the island. Conversely, the hawkmoths in the family Sphingidae are strong fliers, and so, of the 47 species that occur on Hispaniola, only 7 are endemic. HUMPBACK WHALES HO!!!!

So this is going back a week or two now to the first week or so of August 2010. The place is on the East coast just north of Boston, a little place called Gloucester. Just off the coast is a place where a load of sediment is bought up by oceanic currents, and all that nutrients makes it a good place for the whales to come and feed (Stellwagon Bank). It was quite a trip, 2hrs out, half an hour so with the whales and a couple of hours back. But the weather was pleasant and for someone who has never really been on the open ocean it was an interesting experience. The boat is a fishing boat during the day, so the seagulls will frequently fly along behind the boat waiting for tipbits. The whales themselves are also really cool in their own environemnt. Y'see just like it was my first time on the high oceans.... hours away from land, and then you see these massive creatures for which this is home. Quite an alien experience!

Humpback Whale Breachings In Slow Motion (Maui, Hawaii)

Pacific Humpback Whales congregate in the waters near Maui, Hawaii every January to rear their young. We were lucky to spot quite a few spy-hops and jumps on a whale watching trip. Technical note: Shot in 1080p HD with a Canon 60D camera and 18-135mm 3.5-5.6 IS lens. The footage was not shot with slow motion in mind, so instead of a fast shutter speed, a standard 180 degree shutter was used. This made most frames quite blurry and not the best source footage to feed into Twixtor. Originally shot handheld in 1080p, it was cropped to 720p and fed through Mercalli to stablize the footage somewhat. At least there are some clear frames when the whales were near the apex of the jump! Music is "Intro" by Probspot. Used with permission. We will be posting more whale and dolphin videos, as well as cool clips from inside the active Haleakala volcano on Maui, so subscribe to our channel to be notified of every new video!

Amazing Humpback Whale Encounter With Atlantis Submarines

Watch this incredible video as a pod of 5-10 humpback whales encountered an Atlantis Submarines tour off Lahaina, Maui on April 5. The submarine tour guests witnessed a competitive group behavior by the humpbacks in which the males were vying for the attention of a female that swam around the submarine for 45 minutes. In 20-plus years of dives, Atlantis Submarines guests have seen a lot of Hawaiis marine life, but this undersea show by the humpbacks was a first!
