Azem Bejta, more commonly known as Azem Galica was born in the village of Galica (medieval Kalica) in the Drenica region of central Kosovo. He was the son of Bejta Galica, a patriot who died fighting for Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire. Azem followed his father, and first fought against the Ottomans between 1910-1912. The same year, 1912, Serbia gained Kosovo in the course of the First Balkan War, and Azem Galica was among the many patriots who fought against the Serbs. He proved his valiance on many occasions. During the First World War, when the Serbs were defeated by the Bulgarians and Austro-Hungarians in 1915, Kosovo was divided between Bulgaria and Austro-Hungary. Azem Galica did not accept this occupation either, and he became an outlaw fighting the Bulgarian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers. In one occasion, for instance, it was him, his brother and two other fighters against as many as 30 Bulgarian soldiers. They killed at least 13 and chased the others. After Austro-Hungary's withdrawal, however, Serbia regained Kosovo. Azem Galica and his ceta (military formation) pursued their life mission; the liberation of Kosovo. Their continuous battles with Serb military and police is the source of many anecdotes of bravery. Along his side was the Jeanne D'Arc of Kosovo, his wife Qerime Radisheva, or Shota. They won many pitched battles with local Serb forces, but always under the rule that "no Serbs besides those carrying weapons are to be touched ..."! He <b>...</b>

Ilir Shaqiri - Arvanite The arvanites were mainly highlanders and farmers. Some say they came to Greece in the 6 and 7AD. But the majority probably came during the XI, XII and XIII centuries. It was a time when Greece was under a bad economic and military shape, entire regions were de-populated due to diseases, wars, starvings etc and those regions became home to rebels, thieves etc. The princes of Greece, greeks, franks and catalans invited albanian clans to settle in those regions to Greece´s situation. They settled mainly in Beotia, Attica, the Peloponnesse. Some settled also in the isles like Hydra, Specia, even Crete and Cyprus. There is even one document on colonies by albanian settlements in Cyprus, mainly mercenaries and their leaders like Aleksander Gabriera! The albanians played an important role in Greece. Many of it´s princes like Leon Sguro were arvanites. The defender of Athens, Dhimitër Rendi (the heavy) was an arvanites! Then we have prince Thedor Bohala. When the turks arrived, the arvanites defended Greece with bravery. One example is Pavlo Bua Sklepa. After beeing defeated, the turks cut of the heads of 800 arvanites making a pyramide to revenge. Then we have plenty others, Centurion Zaharia, Dhoskë the albanian, Dushi, Korkondil Kladha etc. They fought the enemies along the greeks and venetians. As a result, many of the arvanites fled to Italy due to the reprisals, they have many songs about Moréa etc. Those whom stayed continued to fight. It is even <b>...</b>

Illyrian Shepherd Dog , Deltari Ilir , Qeni Ilir , IlirIllyrian Sheepdog or Shar Mountain dog comes from the Shara Mountian Region and its a heritage to Albanians from Illyrians, the breed befor was called Illyrian Sheepdog the name was changed by Dr. Pavlovic to Sharplaninac in 1957, without consulting with Albanians wich where the largest breeders. The Sharplaninac or Illyrian Shepherd Dog , is an ancient livestock guarding dog breed from the mountain region of former southeastern Yugoslavia now the south of Kosovo and the north of Republic of Macedonia.The Šarplaninac was first registered by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) in 1939 as the Illyrian Shepherd dog, after the ancient name of the region. In 1957 the General Assembly of the FCI accepted a motion proposed by the Yugoslavian Federation of Cynology to change the name of the breed to "Yugoslavian Shepherd Dog Sharplaninac", after the Shar Mountains which are located in Kosovo, Macedonia, and Albania where the breed is most common. The Deltri Ilir (Illyrian Shepherd Dog) is a loving breed that develops a strong bond and will instinctively protect its family. They are gentle dogs but will treat anyone they perceive as a threat with distrust. They are excellent herding dogs and guardians. They are an intelligent breed of dog that will make any family glad to have such a loyal and dependable breed as a part of their family. This video is for my Dog Murgo.
