The Land of the Inca, Machu Picchu

John and Cara take the train from Cuzco along the Sacred Valley to Aguas Calientes. From there they climb up to Machu Picchu to find it completely draped in clouds the nearly entire time. The site was still impressive. The ruins are a honeycomb labyrinth of temples, plazas, living quarters, industrial buildings, passageways, and ceremonial baths that all hang above massive agricultural terraces that fall away into the river below. What is really fascinating about Machu Picchu is how the Incas incorporated the natural surroundings into their mortarless polished stone structures. The temples, for example, are not symmetrical or at all balanced but instead follow the contours of a large rock or cave. Also of interest is the Inca bridge located behind the ruins as a possible escape route.

documentary on the pre-inca civilizations

The Inca Civilization was an aboriginal American Indian culture that evolved in the Andean region (western South America) prior to Spanish exploration and conquest in the 16th century. The pre-Columbian civilization was extraordinary in its developments of human society and culture, ranking with the early civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia. There are several myths about Pre-Inca Civilizations. As with all ancient civilizations, legends and ancient stone carvings and monuments speak of creation by gods who came from the skies, yet no one is certain how any of these civilizations came into being. Many just seem to spring up as if out of no where. There is a pre-Incan legend that speaks of Viracocha who is depicted in many forms. There is a duality about this deity, which is not unlike gods in other civilizations - the good god and the warrior side to his personality. We see him as he enlightened god in the white robes who brings knowledge and the warrior god with staves in his hands and a sun symbol around his head, not unlike the sun god Ra in ancient Egypt. As we third dimension is a duality - all things have good and evil charactistics - including the gods of all myths. Viracocha - as duality is depicted as the sun god of creation [wearing a sun crown] and the moon god. Viracocha, as the feathered serpent god, is one of the great mysteries of ancient American cultures. He was called Kukulkan by the Mayas, Quetzalcoatl by the Aztecs, Viracocha by the Incas, Gucumatz in ...

Secret of the Incas - Pt.1

UPDATE:!!! As of December 8th, I've noticed that this video is now available as a "Watch Instantly" on NetFlix. If there has been a re-release of it, I'm sure this won't be here much longer.....First, my disclaimer: This movie is considered to be in the public domain as defined by US copyright law and the Berne Convention, and no rights are given or implied. Harry Steele (Charlton Heston) is the smart, two-fisted relic hunter who has found the secret hiding place of ancient Inca gold, high in the Peruvian Andes at fabled Machu Picchu, and is willing to use anyone or anything to get there; Dr. Stanley Moorehead (Robert Young) is the idealistic archeologist who wants to give the long-lost treasure back to the Peruvian people; Elena Atonescu (Nicole Maury) is the beautiful and seductive refugee they both fall for, and who will stop at nothing to stay out from behind the Iron Curtain; Kori-Tika (Yma Sumac) is the exotic Inca priestess, whose otherworldly singing is the only way to pacify the restless Peruvian natives; Ed Morgan (Thomas Mitchell) is the murderous thief, driven by a lifetime of greed, who is trying to steal the treasure for a last great score. Harry must race them all to find the treasure, using a secret of his own - only Harry knows the ancient ritual which will reveal the hidden gold in the tomb of the last Inca King, in a stunning scene that influenced the Well of Souls from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark". documentary on the inca empire

Short documentary about the end of the Incan Empire. The Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire was a process through which a group of Spaniards led by Francisco Pizarro succeeded in toppling the Inca Empire in the early 16th-century, as part of the discovery and conquest of the new world. They took advantage of a recent civil war in the empire (between the groups of the brothers: Atahualpa and Huascar) to capture the ruling monarch, Inca Atahualpa in the city of Cajamarca on November 16, 1532. In the following years the conquistadors managed to consolidate their power over the whole Andean region, repressing successive indigenous rebellions until the establishment of the Viceroyalty of Perú in 1542 and the fall of the resistance of Vilcabamba in 1572. Inca Trail::Inka Trail::Machu Picchu :: With InfoCusco

www.infocusco.com.pe IMPORTANT (Like this video to put more... thanks) due to the great demand of this trek, the Peruvian government in its efforts to protect the Inca trail network has LIMITED the access to the 4-day Inca Trail as well as 2-day trek, to 500 people per day, composed of approximately 180 tourists and the rest of help staff (guides, cooks and porters). In this sense, if you want to take the tour from October to January, we recommend that you make your reservation more than 3 months in advance, and 6 or more months in advance for the months of March to September since the permits for this season are quickly sold out. This year we have received countless emails requesting places for the Inca Trail for the months of March, April, May, June, July, August and September, but sadly the permits were already sold out, with no expectations of getting any. This is why we recommend booking the Inca Trail with enough anticipation so you will not be disappointed at the last minute. Questions / bookings please email us at: reservations@infocusco.com.pe

Pooh - Inca

Valero was an undefeated southpaw boxer and former two weight world champion who fought up to light welterweight. His professional boxing record was 27-0 (27 KOs, 19 of which occurred in the first round). Valero was a former WBA Super Featherweight champion and former WBC Lightweight champion who was known by boxing fans for his aggressive style and punching power. He is the only fighter in the 30 years of the WBC to win every fight in his career by knockout. On April 18, 2010, Valero was arrested after police found the body of his 24-year-old wife, Jennifer, in a hotel in the city of Valencia, Carabobo. Valero was considered a suspect and was taken to jail. Valero allegedly admitted to hotel security and police that he had murdered his wife. The following day he was found hanging in his prison cell, dead, at 1:30 AM. Conspiracy theories grew after a doctor who examined Valero's body voiced suspicions about the manner of Valero's death. Many speculated the police may have murdered Valero, but no proven evidence was found.

Inca Trail - Part 1

As I have become a more experienced filmmaker, I have come to the opinion that for me, it is people that make interesting viewing. This is one of the main reasons I enjoy travelling. I like going to unusual places and meeting people from all walks of life. Perhaps if people travelled more, the world would be better educated about others and there would be less racism. This is part of a 2-hour documentary I made of my travels across South America in the summer of 2007, and focuses on a 4-day hike through the Inca Trail. This is part 1 of 3, so be sure to view all 3 parts if you want to see the full journey. We used an Australian company called Intrepid Expeditions and our guide was a man named Wilfredo, who lives in Peru. Our porters were also local to the area, provided by a company called Llama Trek. They really did go out of their way for us; just take a look at the food they cooked. On my travelling companions birthday they baked a cake and all the ingredients were carried with the rest of their stuff. Those who have ever thought about walking the Inca Trail will find this a useful insight into what to expect. I hope others will find it educational and informative. The walk is hard as you will see, but anybody who is reasonably fit should be able to complete it without any major problem. You will need extended insurance because of the high altitude. Most people do this walk in groups of about 200, but ours was a group of 6 and we really felt we benefited from the ...

It is also described as the first song to use the power chord, the "major modus operandi of [the] modern rock guitarist". History At a live gig in Fredericksburg, Virginia, attempting to work up a backing for The Diamonds' "The Stroll," Link Wray and his Ray Men came up with the stately, powerful blues instrumental "Rumble," which they originally called "Oddball." The song was an instant hit with the live audience, which demanded four repeats that night. Eventually the song came to the attention of record producer Archie Bleyer of Cadence Records, who hated it, particularly after Wray poked holes in his amplifier's ...
