WikiLeaks Iraq War Logs: Torture, civilian death toll revealed in latest leak

US commanders in Iraq ignored evidence of torture and often failed to investigate the killing of civilians. These are the major findings from the leak of 400000 secret American military files from the whistleblowing website, WikiLeaks. The data describes widespread brutal torture of detainees by Iraqi troops - with some documents showing American authorities often turned a blind eye. The files also reveal that 66000 civilians were killed in Iraq since the US invaded - even though Washington had denied it kept any such record. The Pentagon's condemned what is the largest-ever leak of classified documents - saying it will only serve to help America's enemies.

Senator Byrd's Speech Opposing Iraq War 3/19/03 Part 1

Remarkably prescient speech opposing the Iraq war by Senator Byrd in March of 2003. AMERICA'S IMAGE IN THE WORLD Script Part 1: Mr. BYRD. Madam President, I believe in this great and beautiful country. I have studied its roots and gloried in the wisdom of its magnificent Constitution and its inimitable history. I have marveled at the wisdom of its Founders and Framers. Generation after generation of Americans has understood the lofty ideals that underlie our great Republic. I have been inspired by the story of their sacrifice and their strength. But today I weep for my country. I have watched the events of recent months with a heavy, heavy heart. No more is the image of American one of strong, yet benevolent peacekeeper. The image of America has changed. Around the globe, our friends mistrust us, our word is disputed, our intentions are questioned. Instead of reasoning with those with whom we disagree, we demand obedience or threaten recrimination. Instead of isolating Saddam Hussein, we seem to have succeeded in isolating ourselves. We proclaim a new doctrine of preemption which is understood by few but feared by many. We say that the United States has the right to turn its firepower on any corner of the globe which might be suspect in the war on terrorism. We assert that right without the sanction of any international body. As a result, the world has become a much more dangerous place. We flaunt our superpower status with arrogance. We treat UN Security Council members ...

Iraq war: Predictions vs. reality

With nearly two million Iraqis displaced, tens of thousands dead and more than 4500 US soldiers killed, the overall result of the war on Iraq may not be what the US bargained for. Al Jazeera's Patty Culhane has been looking back at the promises and predictions that were made by Washington nine years ago.
Iran-Iraq War

This video was made in remembrance of all the brave Iranian soldiers who put their lives on the line and fought for 8 years to defend Iran in a war that was imposed on us by the aggressor Saddam Hussein. Video made by: The Evil Persian =========================== Background history: The Iraqi Imposed war began when Iraq invaded Iran on 22 September 1980. Although the Iraqis attacked without formal warning, they failed to make progress and were soon repelled by the Iranians. Despite several calls for a ceasefire by the United Nations Security Council, hostilities continued until 20 August 1988; the last prisoners of war were exchanged in 2003. Iraq's army was primarily equipped with weaponry it had purchased from the Soviet Union and its satellites in the preceding decade. During the war, it purchased billions of dollars worth of advanced equipment from the Soviet Union, France,[31] as well as from the People's Republic of China, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, and other sources (including Europe and facilities for making and/or enhancing chemical weapons). Germany[32] along with other Western countries (among them United Kingdom, France, Spain (Explosivos Alaveses), Canada, Italy and the United States) provided Iraq with biological and chemical weapons technology and the precursors to nuclear capabilities The US sold Iraq $200 million in helicopters, which were used by the Iraqi military in the war. Speaking of Bush, Congressman Paul was very straight-forward in his displeasure for Bush's "demented philosophy of conquest." Here is a portion of his floor speech: RON PAUL: "In recent decades, our policies have been driven by neoconservative empire radicalism; profiteering in the military industrial complex; misplaced do-good internationalism; mercantilistic notions regarding the need to control natural resources; and blind loyalty to various governments in the Middle East." National guard Sergeant Mark England says the officers beat him with a nightstick and shot him with a taser after an argument with TSA agents at the airport. The Metro officers involved are still working and Metro says based on the video Action News showed them they believe the officer didn't do anything wrong. Status of Case as of 1 JAN 2009 One of LVMPD Officers are still working active , armed duty at the airport; the other has been promoted to weapons instructor and now teaches at the academy. Mother of Iraq War Vet says Transcendental Meditation Saved Her Son's Life

www.davidlynchfoundation.org Mother of Iraq War Veteran says Transcendental Meditation Saved Her Son's Life. Every day mothers all over the world watch their children go off to war and often when they return home their sons and daughters are different. Distant. Lost. Angry. Suffering from post-traumatic stress (PTS). This is exactly what Julia George faced when her son David George returned from Iraq. In this video, Julia opens up about watching her son reclaim his life through the practice of Transcendental Meditation, and David shares his memories of the dark days before he began meditating. Over 500000 US troops deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq since 2001 suffer from psychological injuries. Seymour Hersh: Propaganda Used Ahead of Iraq War Now Being Reused Over Iran's Nuke Program

www.democracynow.org - While the United States, Britain and Canada are planning to announce a coordinated set of sanctions against Iran's oil and petrochemical industry today, longtime investigative journalist Seymour Hersh questions the growing consensus on Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program. International pressure has been mounting on Iran since the UN International Atomic Energy Agency revealed in a report the "possible military dimensions" to Iran's nuclear activities, citing "credible" evidence that "indicates that Iran has carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device." In his latest article for The New Yorker blog, titled "Iran and the IAEA," Hersh argues the recent report is a "political document," not a scientific study, in an interview with Democracy Now! Nov. 21. "They [JSOC] found nothing. Nothing. No evidence of any weaponization," Hersh says. "In other words, no evidence of a facility to build the bomb. They have facilities to enrich, but not separate facilities to build a bomb. This is simply a fact." Donald Rumsfeld confronted on Aspartame and Iraq War

Saad Ali- We Are Change Chicago Anthony- We Are Change Ohio CHICAGO, IL- Former Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld strolled into Chicago on May 17, 2011, for a speech at the globalist think tank, Chicago Council on Global Affairs. The audience was mainly comprised of your average "Coke drinking, McDonald's eating" yuppie, ready to bow down to Mr. Rumsfeld. They clapped and cheered as he approached the podium and delivered his globalist speech. The praising of such a criminal was mind blowing, and something had to be done. Mr. Rumsfeld's "accomplishments" have caused humanitarian suffering worldwide. To start off, Rumsfeld is responsible for contributing to the approval of the artificial sweetener Aspartame. The known carcinogen has caused millions of people suffering around the world. Headaches, dizziness, neurological degeneration, macular degeneration, optic neuritis, insomnia, seizures, irregular heart rhythm, multiple sclerosis, lupus, Alzheimer's disease, autism, Tourettes syndrome, birth defects, Lou Gehrig's disease, Parkinson's disease, leukemia, low blood platelet, and diabetes are a few of the illnesses and disease caused by this poisonous drug. Think about how much better our health could be had Mr. Rumsfeld not pushed Aspartame into the market for human consumption. (Visit Natural News for more information) Furthermore, Rumsfeld is highly responsible for the destruction of Iraq, the death of one million Iraqi's, and thousands of US soldiers. Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq war

The War on Iraq, filmmaker Robert Greenwald chronicles the Bush Administration's determined quest to invade Iraq following the events of September 11, 2001. The film deconstructs the administration's case for war through interviews with US intelligence and defense officials, foreign service experts, and UN weapons inspectors -- including a former CIA director, a former ambassador to Saudi Arabia and even President Bush's Secretary of the Army. Their analyses and conclusions are sobering, and often disturbing, regardless of one's political affiliations.

Decorated Iraq War Veteran Aaron Hughes to Return Military Medals at Anti-NATO Protest

DemocracyNow.org - Veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will join thousands of protesters this Sunday at the NATO summit in Chicago. We speak to Iraq Veterans Against the War's Aaron Hughes, who's among a number of Afghanistan and Iraq war vets planning to return their medals of honor to visiting NATO generals. "[Veterans] have to live with the failed policy of the global war on terror on a daily basis," Hughes says. "What have we been doing in this decade-long war? There is a real moral disconnect between that the idea that our military can build a democracy and the idea that our military is trained and designed to control, dominate and kill people ... Occupations do not build democracies. Occupations do not extend individuals' freedoms. The movements of the Arab Spring, that was building democracy. The movements of Gandhi, of civil rights in this country, people's movements, that's what extends democracy."
