This video was filmed during our stay in Doha, at the Irish pub within the Sheraton resort. As with all of our videos we are playing the most requested songs at that particular venue. It is quite a contrast to our previous two videos posted (cruise ship & hotel style work) . Check out the links. Although a little dark visually, this pretty much captures the general feel of the gig. Filmed using a Sony Handycam 'HC40' and recorded combining a direct feed from the desk mixed with the raw camera audio from the in built microphone, hence the occasional distortion & compression.

Beautiful traditional Scottish air "Archibald MacDonald of Kepoch. Patsy learned this from the well known Scottish fiddler, Alasdair Fraser. Arrangement by Patsy and Declan. Patsy & Declan met on their first week in Strathclyde University, Glasgow. About 4 years ago she asked Declan to accompany her with his harp in a couple of the numbers in her CD "With Complements" Patsy was only 19 years old and Declan a year older. Very mature playing I am sure you will agree. I will post more from her CD very soon. Beautiful scenery from Chris Lofty...

When visiting the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland on Aug 6, 2006, we came across this woman playing the harp while walking to the cliffs. This is all I recorded, and I didn't get a CD, etc or even her name. By the time we came back down she was gone. UPDATE: Thanks to YouTube she found me! Her name is Jean Wallace and you can buy a CD on her website www.jeanwallace.com. She also does weddings and private events.

Another ridiculously wet day (just check out the videos for floods in Dublin) so another indoor video. This is my Harp, a Bolger Harp made in 1961. I made a bit of a boo-boo when talking about the symbols of Guinness and the Irish State as I mixed them up but the information is still the same.

This is one of the tunes taught to Gaelic harp students in the 18th century and before. I'm playing it on a HHSI student Downhill harp, with brass wire strings, copied from the harp made in 1702 by Cormac O'Kelly for one of the last of the old Irish harpers, Denis O'Hampsey. This video is part of my online Gaelic harp tutor at www.earlygaelicharp.info - live online video lessons are available using Skype.
