Israeli settler violence caught on camera

The Israeli human rights group B'tselem has released a video showing Israeli settlers shooting at Palestinians in the West Bank. Residents of Yitzhar and the residents of the El Kabalia hurled rocks at each other during Saturday's violent confrontation, which resulted in residents using live ammunition. Jewish settlers shoot Palestinians as Israeli soldiers stand idle

In the latest scandal involving the Israeli military, soldiers stand by and refuse to intervene as extremist Jewish settlers open fire on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. A video clip released by the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem shows armed settlers from Yitzhar settlements, near Nablus, attacked the nearby village of Asira al-Qibliya over the weekend and threw rocks at Palestinian homes, sparking clashes in the area.

Israeli rock band's song in Fiat ad

A new TV commercial of the Fiat car manufacturer chose to feature a song by the Israeli hard rock band, Hayehudim, known overseas as IUDM. The song "You Hurt Me Anyway" is the English version of a song from the band's 2007 album, "Forte." The ad was released online several weeks ago, and is expected to be broadcast on US television, in spite of the fact it is in Italian. The band's PR office said the commercial was made in Italian to maintain its authenticity, since Fiat is an Italian car.

Playing defense, Israeli style

www.israel.org Students can learn Krav Maga, the Israeli method for self-defense, all over the world. But some prefer to train in the country where it was born. "The FBI, the Mossad, the CIA agents, law enforcement, SWAT -- all over the world, all of them are using Krav Maga," says Avi Moyal, an international instructor of the Israeli self-defense system. "Part of the understanding of Krav Maga is to see the environment of Israel, the Holy Land, where it was created. I think you cannot understand a system if you don't come to the source." Robert Bennet, a Krav Maga student from Scotland, agrees. "The place of the Krav Maga is the street. "Stoning" Attack on Israeli Car

News Report By: Roy Sharon Cannel 10 News Zehava Weiss - "Stoning" February 21, 2012 MY THEORY - I was trying to figure out why the Palestinians would invite videographers and photographers to witness their criminal/terrorist actions. Their high level of perverse hatred/evil plus their low level of intelligence might be one plausible answer. However, I have come up with something else. I suspect that the Arabs were trying to instigate a response from the Jewish drivers (ie a driver pulling a weapon or one who elected to barrel through the mob). IMHO these responses would have been warranted, however, if the Arabs were able to catch such a response on video, they would be able to use it to vilify the people and the State of Israel. Naturally, regardless of how ridiculous the accusations may have been, Israel would nonetheless capitulate and offer some sort of concession to the Palestinians as an appeasement. This is sort of the way things go here. Fortunately nobody was seriously hurt and the "Peace-Loving" Palestinians continue to show their true colors to the world.

Israeli rower won gold -- and sang "Hatikvah" on her own

Update: some of the comments to this video mentioned a version of Hatikvah, by Enrico Macias. The first approximately 30 seconds in that version are not part of Israel's official anthem, Hatikvah. The official anthem, used by all official Israeli institutions (the President, Prime Minister's Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs etc.) and in every official ceremony, should have been in the hands of the Italian organizers. Unfortunately, unlike the Olympic games organizers, the Italian organizers didn't have it. They acknowledged the fact and apologized. Instead of acquiring the official Hatikvah, it is quite possible that they simply downloaded the Enrico Macias version of Hatikvah, since it's the first result when googling "Israel anthem" (without the quotes). Just a month and a half ago, a much worse incident happened in Kuwait: when an athlete from Kazakhstan won a gold medal, the Kuwaiti organizers played the spoof Kazakhstan anthem from the movie Borat... They had found it online, of course: www.telegraph.co.uk The correct Israeli anthem was played in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games and in countless international sport events, when Israeli athletes won gold or when an Israeli team played in an official match. www.youtube.com (the anthem starts at min 2:30) Here's the official Hatikva, from the Israeli Foreign Affairs ministry's website (you can click to hear it at the bottom of the page): www.mfa.gov.il You can also hear it on the CIA's World Factbook. Palestinians accuse Israeli settlers for eating up lands

Palestinians in the West Bank stand by and watch as Jewish settlers continue to claim land rights and demolish their property, leaving some homeless and without better prospects and diminishing chances of peace between both sides. Palestinians say the land is privately owned but Israeli settlement plans have exposed the deep division between the two sides. The community of Bani Nuaim which houses around 30 families is serene and families continue to go on with their everyday lives. Palestinians say this land was theirs and has been taken from them illegally. "Each morning when I come to this place, really I start crying. It's my land for many many years and that I know of my family owned this land maybe three or four hundred years ago. And suddenly, almost twenty years ago now, we can't even get close to the land," said Harbi Ibrahim Mustafa Hasan, one of the land owners. Hasan, along with other private owners like him, took their case to Israel's High Court. A ruling in their favor called for the settlers to vacate by May 1 and their homes to be destroyed -- but the settlers appealed. "Demolishing the homes is not justice. If justice were to be done, then the Supreme court will wait until the case finishes in the district court and the case is decided based on proof and evidence and not on hearsay," said Judy Simon, settler. According to analysts the Israeli government is pressuring the court into stalling the case so that new laws can be formulated to enable the ...

Israeli strike 'kills Palestinian boy' in new Gaza assault

www.euronews.com A 12-year-old Palestinian boy has been killed in a third successive day of Israeli strikes on Gaza, according to local medical sources. Another person was injured. It brings to 17 the number of dead in the Israeli bombardment since Friday. The death of a Palestinian militant whose car was targeted by Israeli forces in Gaza City has sparked the worst violence the area has seen for almost a year, with Israel on the receiving end of sustained rocket attacks. The Israeli army confirmed strikes have been carried out and said it was checking reports that a boy had died. He's said to have been killed in northern Gaza. A Palestinian militant reportedly died in a separate attack. The escalating violence has brought calls for a ceasefire from the UN, the EU, the Palestinian Authority and Egypt. Militant groups in Gaza, vowing revenge for the Israeli strikes, have fired more than 100 rockets into southern Israel since Friday. Six people have been injured, one seriously. The police say several more projectiles have been fired into Israeli territory on Sunday. Some 25 were intercepted on Saturday before they landed in Israel, according to the military. The country's defence minister Ehud Barak said its defence system had proved its effectiveness, adding that Israel would strike all those who target Israeli civilians. Human rights group says Israeli police fail to protect Palestinians

Most families in Fasayil al-Wusta, a community in the West Bank town of Jericho, are subjected to violence besides living in sub-standard conditions. The majority of residents are Bedouin who settled in Fasayil al-Wusta in 1998, after being displaced from Tel Arad in the Negev desert by Israeli authorities in the 1940s and 50s. Residents complain that incidents on violence by settlers are on the rise and the police does little to address the issue. A local shepherd Ayyash Mahmoud said 200 cows from his herd were killed and he blames a settlement guard for their death. He doesn't have much hope that his situation will improve as long as the Israeli military's civil administration maintains complete control of building permits. "Our pregnant cows were going back to the community areas. The settler (settlement guard) started to shoot at the cows. My children saw him and they started to shout at him. He came at them so they ran away. They called me and I was in Nablus. I returned to the area, my brother and I called the vet and the Israeli police. We showed them the bullets and where the cows were shot; the cows were all pregnant," said Ayyash. An Israeli police spokesperson said that necessary security measures are being enforced around the West Bank, and investigations are being conducted on reported incidents of violence. "When I went to check on my complaint, the Israeli police told me that they were still investigating it. They knew who committed the crime, a settler ...

Israeli Apartheid Week: Call it as it is

Calling the Israeli regime as one of apartheid is not rhetoric, nor is it an exaggeration or a propaganda tool. This is the reality in modern day Palestine, where the Israeli regime is based on discrimination, through laws, practices, education and most aspects of life. This apartheid regime is not only imposed on the people in Palestine, but also on millions of Palestinian refugees denied their right to return home because they are of the wrong religion. As awareness across the world continues to increase regarding the Israeli Apartheid regime in Palestine, each effort in this aspect would help accelerate the conclusion of this shameful page in history. And as this awareness rises, campaigns to boycott, divest and sanction this regime provide a very effective and natural response. The world witnessed a similar response transpire and bear fruit in the case of South Africa, and there are very good reasons to believe that it will do the same in the case of Palestine.

Ceasefire Reached After Israeli Air Strikes Killed 26 Palestinians in Gaza

democracynow.org - As Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip reportedly agree to a ceasefire after four days of cross-border violence, we speak with Ali Abunimah, co-founder of the online publication, "The Electronic Intifada." Earlier today, an Egyptian official said both sides have pledged to end current attacks and implement "a comprehensive and mutual calm." Israel's latest strikes on Gaza killed at least 25 Palestinians. At least 80 Palestinians were also wounded, most of them civilians. At least four Israelis in border towns were wounded in rockets fired by Palestinian militants in Gaza. The rocket attacks began after an Israeli air strike killed Zuhair al-Qaisi, the head of the Popular Resistance Committees, on Friday. Most of the Palestinian victims were killed on Saturday, making it the deadliest 24-hour period Gaza has seen since the Israeli attack in December 2008 and January 2009 when some 1400 Palestinians were killed, most of them civilians. "Israel presents this as they're attacking terrorists who are en route to commit some kind of attack, and that's the claim they always make," Abunimah says. "But in fact, in almost every case, they're attacking people in their homes, riding in cars, just walking in the street." Iran banning Samsung products over an Israeli Ad (Subtitled)

A senior lawmaker says Iran's Majlis is considering a plan to cut off the country's economic transactions with South Korea's Samsung in reaction to the company's anti-Iran teaser. Head of Majlis Energy Committee Arsalan Fat'hipour said the double-urgency plan, aimed at imposing a complete ban on buying all Samsung products, would make the company regret making the insulting teaser. South Korea's giant manufacturer of electronic devices and home appliances produced a teaser shortly after the assassination of the Iranian scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan by Mossad agents in Tehran, in which Iran had been depicted as a primitive society. The clip also implies that Israel is powerful enough to easily destroy Iran's nuclear facilities or assassinate the country's nuclear scientists. The Iranian lawmaker added that forgetting the high volume of its trade with Iran, the company has produced the teaser to curry favor with Israel. Fat'hipour said Samsung's apology to the Iranian nation, though necessary, would not be enough and that the company must be held accountable for producing the teaser. Meanwhile, Samsung's Dubai office has issued a statement condemning the production of the teaser by the company's Israel office. Samsung's public relations official in Tehran, Elaheh Taheri, told reporters on Thursday the clip had nothing to do with the South Korean company and that it had been produced by an Israeli cable TV station, Hot.
