PNR is utilizing these coaches in the Bicol Express Service, Special Holiday Services, and some are used in the Metro-Commuter Line (Tutuban-Alabang). Some are still idle in the Tutuban Yard but we hope to see them running sooner or later. Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara stepped down earlier this week for accepting political funding from a Korean national. Accepting donations from foreign nationals is illegal if done so knowingly. [Yukio Edano, Chief Cabinet Secretary]: "Maehara took action based on his own decision. I have heard that the prime minister is absolutely not thinking about such a thing." The Asahi newspaper reported earlier that Kan's political funds group received donations from a Korean national living in Japan totaling over $12000 in 2006 and 2009. In November 2009, Kan was serving as deputy premier after his Democratic Party of Japan took power for the first time. The departure of Seiji Maehara has added to the pressure on a prime minister, whose popularity is at around 20 percent. Kan is facing calls to resign or call a snap election and has been struggling to pass bills to implement a $1 trillion budget for 2011-2012 in parliament. Opposition parties are blocking the legislation and attacking the government over policy missteps.

As the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis unfolded, Okaasan (host mother) and her volunteer group quickly came together to raise money through donations and a Charity Bazaar event where items donated by the local community were sold. Exchange students had limited opportunities to help out, and some were even pulled out of Japan by their home schools and Governments.
