Liu Fang and Yoshio Kurahachi performed the famous "Spring Sea" or Haru no umi (春の海) Composed in 1935 by the Japanese koto player and composer Michio Kiyagi （尺八 箏）, one of classical master pieces in the traditional Japanese repertoire. This music video was taken during a concert in the Netherlands on March 25, 2007 using a digital camera. Though I can't understand japanese, the opression in my chest is so real as the feeling of sorrow.

Gagaku: The Court Music of Japan allows the viewer to experience the haunting sounds of the Japanese court orchestra and to see the magnificent costumes and masks of its stately dances. Host for the program is Dr. William P. Malm, Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Michigan, who introduces the instruments of gagaku and the musicians who play them. Also featured in the program is Suenobu Togi, Gagaku Master at UCLA and Dr. Sidney Brown, Professor of Asian Studies of the University of Oklahoma, who explains the historic roots of gagaku. Performances by the Imperial Court Orchestra in Tokyo illustrate the contrasting styles of gagaku. tokyokawaiietc.com I am playing Koto, Rokudan no shirabe (only the first part) for the new year 2010! I played it for the first time in over 25 years absence, since I first played it at 6. I couldn't find the musical score, a tool to use for tuning, and best sized "Tsume" for my fingers. My memory was all I could count on. So it's possible I am making mistakes, skipping some parts, or playing the music in a bit wrong way, but...I can say that I'm doing pretty well when I think of this as only the 2nd time since my 6 years old. It's getting too long, and I'll contimue it to my blog.
