D:FUSE ft. JES - Everything With You (Jay Sustain Chill Mix)
In 2005, I found a remix contest for a collaborative song between DJ D:Fuse and Dance Diva JES, hosted by acidplanet. I worked on several remixes ranging from progressive house to dubbed down techno and finally settling on his chilled out sunrise vocal mix. At the time, I was living in Austin Texas, and playing in the local house scene. To my surprise, 1 week before the contest was to end, D:Fuse and Jes swung through D:Fuse' hometown of Austin, Texas for a very special & intimate performance. On that night I handed 2 copies of my remix to both Jes , D:Fuse and D's manager at the time. Before even hearing my mix, the three of us enjoyed a great night of fun, and I found new friends in Dustin, Jes & Tom. Several weeks went by, and I was honestly a little concerned that my mix was not well received since I had not heard anything from the artists. AND THEN....! I checked my email to find a message from D:Fuse telling me that not only was my mix his selection for the winer of the remix contest but that he had played it Live in LA, and it was to be featured on his upcoming Live Mix album, People 3: Both Sides of the Music. I was and am still very honored for this. That achievement led to some other great works with me & Jes, including Jay Sustain remixes of her hit single, Ghost, and a cello production package for her chillout album, Into The Dawn. MARIA CAFRA Jay Taruc Documentary Positively one of the most prolific bands during the 70s, Maria Cafra spread its wings and made history as one of the frontrunners of Pinoy Rock alongside legends like the Juan dela Cruz Band. "Kumusta Kaibigan," "Buhay Gapo," and "Exodus" are only some of the many songs that Resty Fabunan, Jun Fabunan, and Rolly Averilla made legendary. Resty, the band's composer and lead guitarist, recalls that long-haired guys were forbidden during Martial Law. In the 70s, that meant they had to avoid the authorities while hopping from gig to gig. The trio claimed they only had only Rock and Roll, never drugs, to sustain them during those tough times. Then, Maria Cafra suddenly disbanded. The members moved on with their lives not looking back. After three decades, the band is slowly easing its way back into the music scene. But the original trio is no more. Dennis has taken his father Jun's place as bassist. Jun died while performing in a gig almost a decade ago. With a different generation and advanced technology that permeate the present music scene, how will Maria Cafra regain its former glory? Will their famous songs of long ago be enough to break boundaries?
