Watching this, I've never laughed and cried so hard in my life. This video is not yet on Youtube (That I can find). So I'm uploading it in hopes that sharing this, more people can see just how special Jim and Frank's relationship was. The New York memorial was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on May 21, 1990, just five days after Henson's death. (Less than two years later, the same cathedral would host the memorial for Richard Hunt.)

Today Google honors the great american puppeteer Jim Henson. The original doodle on the google homepage is interactive but without music or sounds. I think Google wants the user to play with them and give them their own voices. I tried in the video ... Jim Henson was born in 1936 in Greenville, Mississippi. He began his puppet-carreer in the early 60s. Henso gets famous with his TV-Shows Sesame Street (Bert & Ernie, Oscar, Cockie Monster, Big Bird) and the Muppets show (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy Bear, Gonzo). But he did also a lot of famous productions, eg the first Star-wars trilogy. Reuploaded due to popular request from not just my friends but a lot of my family members too surprisingly O___o This was made back in December of 2008 and was greeted with extreme critical praise and even won 1st Place for Nation History Day for my school. The main topic of last years History Day was to make something about an individual who has impacted history. The first person I thought of was Jim Henson mainly because he's one of my favorite directors and I love his work. So this documentary not only pays tribute to him, but it was also made to educate people about him and why he was considered such an important individual in the Entertainment business. The documentary focuses on his Beginnings, the evolution of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and lastly his untimely death.

Here's my first attempt at online puppetry, using the Jim Henson google doodle puppets to mime to an acapella version of Poker Face by Lady Gaga I found on YouTube. It could be much better with practice (it was hard to move the mouse around quick enough on my macbook). Would like to know a way to animate more than 1 puppet at once for the harmony parts...looking forward to watching more google puppet videos tomorrow. :-)
