Hey guys, Im Tatiana carrier with clevver movies and Ive got the latest on one of my favorite directors jj abrahms! According to Entertainment weekly, Abrahms is officially on board to direct the sequel to his 2009 hit Star Trek! first film's screenwriters Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are penning the screenplay with producer Damon Lindelof, and the main cast — including Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are all set to return. The sequel is still untitled, and was originally scheduled to come out June 2012, but the film has moved off of that date to give the writers enough time to polish the script. Abrahms first reboot of Trek pulled in 257 million domestically and 385 million worldwide, so we are all pumped to see him back in the directors chair to make some trek magic! Twitter.com - Follow Us! Bad Robot finally makes an actual robot movie. We have the details coming up next. Hi everyone, welcome back to Clevver Movies. I'm your host, Amanda Janner. It has always seemed a little odd that a production company called Bad Robot never made any movies that actually involved robots. We've overlooked that flaw until now, but it looks like we no longer have to. JJ Abrams and company are fixing that strange oversight with Boilerplate. Boilerplate is about an early "steampunk" robot. Steampunk is the sub-genre of science fiction set in an era where steam power is still widely used, featuring futuristic technology as people of the era would have envisioned it to be. The robot in Boilerplate just so happens to be set in the Victorian Age. The robot fights with both Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia, starts a career in the movies, and even disappears during World War One. The story is based on the graphic novel "Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel." The tale first surfaced on the Web eleven years ago, but the novel was only published last year. We're glad JJ Abrams and crew decided to take the Bad Robot name seriously, but we're not quite sure what to expect from this one. Science fiction filmmaking is unusual by its sheer nature, and steampunk work even more so. With that in mind, we want to hear from you in the comments section below. The director dished on his thoughts on two major flicks hes involved in, star trek and M:I4 and we have the details! When talking about Star Trek two, the super 8 director said, "There have been a lot of things that we've been working on...A lot of important elements that we just know we need to really nail down and solve." He went on to stress the importance of making a movie RIGHT without rushing which is why hes been taking the star trek 2 process nice and easy...he said, "I want to make sure we're putting the story, characters, cast, crew and, most importantly, the audience first, before we start talking about exactly which locations we're going to be shooting at, and what the wardrobe and visual effects budgets are. We need to get the important stuff right first." He also gave some feedback on M14 by saying he felt that this installment will be the BEST of the series and it will be all thanks to director brad bird! Abrams said, "It's really fun. Paramount recently announced many of the cast members for JJ Abrams' top-secret Super 8 project. Making the list are Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich and Gabriel Basso, as well as newcomers Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee and Zach Mills. The studio confirmed lead roles have gone to Kyle Chandler and Elle Fanning. Chandler is best known for starring on the small screen in Early Edition and Friday Night Lights. Fanning has held parts in several films including Babel and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and she's quickly following in the footsteps of big sister Dakota Fanning. Details for Chandler and Fanning's characters in Super 8 have not yet been released. The film kicked off production earlier this week in West Virginia, and the set will reportedly be transformed into Lillian Heights, Ohio circa 1979. An official synopsis has not been announced, but it's believed to center around three siblings who spot an alien in the footage they shot on Super 8mm film. In addition to writing and directing, JJ Abrams is also producing Super 8 alongside Steven Spielberg and Bryan Burk. Super 8 opens in theaters in 2011.
