This is me performing at the Exotic World/Burlesque Hall of Fame Striptease Reunion the night before the pageant. I'm doing an homage to Candy Barr. It's not intended to look like her, but the moves, costume, and hairdo all relate to things I've seen in her photos, interviews, and film clips. At the beginning I'm walking around the edge of the stage flirting with the "legends," burlesque performers who worked in the 1940s-1970s. And, I forgot to put my boots on, darn it! She was a featured performer in Margaret Cho's variety show, The Sensuous Woman. She recently served as coach and consultant on an episode of Gossip Girl. In 2007, the Village Voice named her Best Teacher in their Best of New York issue in Arts and Entertainment. In the 1990s, she was a feature dancer, traveling across the country with trunks full of props and costumes to headline strip clubs across the US and Canada. Jo also maintains a burlesque blog titled, Burlesque Daily.
