IAAF World Championships 2011, 110m Hurdles final. Interview of Andrew Turner after the race. Lane 1 Andrew Turner GBR Lane 2 Dwight Thomas JAM Lane 3 Jason Richardson USA Lane 4 David Oliver USA Lane 5 Dayron Robles CUB Lane 6 Liu Xiang CHI Lane 7 Aries Merritt USA Lane 8 William Sharman GBR Article: DAEGU (Sporting Alert) — Cuban hurdler Dayron Robles, who was disqualified after winning the sprint hurdles title at the World Championships said he wouldn't have had his gold medal taken away if he came from a more powerful country. Robles, the Olympic champion and world record holder, crossed the finishing line first in the men's 110m hurdles final, but had his gold medal take away after judges upheld an appeal from the Chinese contingent after replays showed that the Cuban held back Liu Xiang. "If I were from another country that had more power, that wouldn't have happened," Robles was quoted as telling The Associated Press on Tuesday. "It's very controversial that these things happen in an athletics world championships, lamentably it was my turn to lose out." He added: "You can always get hit, you open your arms and there's always contact. I've had races where I've collided with (American hurdler David) Oliver, with the same Chinese (Liu), that's normal and all the athletes know it."
