JSA Joint Security Area South Korea 2011
Today we visited the Joint Security Area at he South Korean border. This area is controled by US and Korean soldiers and it's the spot where you are face to face with enemy soldiers of North Korea. The movement of the North Korean soldiers according to US soldiers was unexpected and you can see the reaction of one of the privates checking out what's going on on the other side. The North Koreans are know for the harsh mentality and have caused lot's of conflicts at different spots at the DMZ.

The Joint Security Area (JSA) at Panmunjeom, Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ)
First, let's tackle some of those acronyms. JSA stands for Joint Security Area, a section of the Panmunjeom truce village on the inter-Korean border, or Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). This is one of the last vestiges of the Cold War, where the South's Republic of Korea (ROK) and the North's People's Democratic Republic of Korea (DPRK) face off amidst a tense and eerie complex of otherwise unassuming buildings. Today, the JSA is a popular tourist destination, with hundreds of visitors every day. Despite the large number of daily visitors, this place is marked by an uneasy yet exhilarating atmosphere of tension and anxiety. That is, until you get to the gift shop.

Smallville: Absolute Justice - Remember the Name [JSA]
Okay Absolute Justice was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I knew the second it started that Id have to vid it! OMG! Words cant even describe the EPICNESS this episode was! As soon as it ended I went on my iTunes and as fate would have it, this song was the first to come up and I knew it was perfect! I had to cut the song a bit short because not all the lyrics fit and Id rather make a short awesome vid than a longer not-so-awesome vid, haha. Alright, so Im not a comic book reader. Have never actually read a comic other than Garfield, Family Circus or the ones that come in Bazooka Bubble Gum, lol. But I do love the comic book world from what I have seen. Ive seen all the Superman and Batman movies, have watched some of the JSA and JLA cartoons from time to time. So I have a basic idea of it all, lol. I knew as Clark was reading off the names that they were big and important and it got me all excited! And I was super giddy when they showed Green Lanterns lantern and later the ring because I actually was able to name the hero based on an object (yes his name was on the plaque but I was far too distracted with the excitement to notice, haha). But I must admit the only reason I really recognized that was because of Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, LOL. But seriously, this episode was by far one of the COOLEST of the series! Definitely one of my all time faves, hehe. Its getting harder and harder to choose a favorite episode this season. I still ADORE Idol and Pandora but this blows my <b>...</b>

Joint Security Area North and South Korea
The Joint Security Area (JSA), often called the "Truce Village" in both the media[1][2] and various military accounts[3], is the only portion of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where South and North Korean forces stand face-to-face. The section is reserved between the two Koreas for diplomatic engagements, and until March 1991 was also the site of military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command (UNC). The Joint Security Area is located at 37°57′21.60″N, 126°40′36.50″E lying within the village of Panmunjom.

ROK Soldiers at the JSA (DMZ)
Republic of Korea (ROK) Soldiers standing guard at the Joint Security Area (JSA) (along the DMZ) A modified Tae Kwon Do stance, called ROK Ready, is an extremely difficult position to maintain, yet these solders will stand in this position without moving for as long as there are visitors in the JSA. No shift change, no bathroom breaks, no movement, this guard will remain at his post until relieved. And this does not mean only as long as visitors are inside the blue buildings, but anywhere inside the JSA perimeter. At building corners they stand half covered by the building and half exposed to the North Korean side, a symbol of being prepared to take cover if a fight breaks out, while being ready to fight at the same time. This is a power stance to show determination, strength, commitment. It's all a mind game to demonstrate power, determination and great will to let the North soldiers know they mean business. The North solders do nothing of this sort.
