Chór Juranda - Idź, nie wracaj 1932

Chór Juranda - Idź, nie wracaj (Go, And Don't Come Back) (Henryk Wars /Andrzej Włast) Tango dramatyczne z teatru "Morskie Oko", Odeon 1932 NOTE: Chór Juranda (The Jurand's Choir) were the second best Polish male revellers before 1939. Established in Warsaw in 1932 by the composer and bandleader Jerzy "Jurand" Koszutski, during all their long years of existence (they survived even WWI, performing after 1945 as Chór Czejanda) they remained in sharp competition with Chór Dana, which was established a few years earlier and quickly earned the opinion of the leading Polish male vocal band. While Chór Dana was a virtuoso ensamble unavoiding the musical experiments and open to the newest trends in the group singing, Chór Juranda was more stylish, moderate, perfectly shaped for the solo and accompanying performances. Therefore, many recordings of Chór Juranda are made together with the great singing stars of the 1930s, eg Aston, Lucyna Szczepańska, Aniela Szlemińska and others. The music was composed by Henryk Wars, who was one of the best prewar Polish bandleaders and composers. Another "tango dramatyczne" of his and his detailed - and very interesting! bio, can be found at www.youtube.com The record is fairly wornout, yet the outstanding, haunting beauty of the composition made me forget about the surface noise, especially in the beginning and the end, and upload it to share with the others. Another lovely Chór Juranda's rendition at www.youtube.com

The Christ's Passion: Chór Juranda sings Gorzkie żale (Bitter Complaints), 1935

Chór Juranda (The Jurand's Choir) with Organ - Gorzkie żale (Bitter Complaints), Pieśń wielkopostna (The Lenten Hymn), Syrena-Electro 1935 (Poland) NOTE: Gorzkie Żale (The Bitter Complaints) is a para-liturgic ceremony held in Polish Catholic Church in last 400 years, as a choral (a capella or with organs) contemplation of Christ's Pasion. Since the end of the 17th century, it has been sung in Polish churches - usually on Sunday afternoons - during all 40 days of the Lent. That beautiful old poetical text - written by anonymous monk or by several autors - has been for centuries an essential part of Polish religious literature heritage. The brilliant performance by Chór Juranda from 1935, belongs to absolute rarities and I am glad, I can present it here. Happy Easter to all of you, Dear You Tube friends!

Easter Triduum: Chór Juranda - Wisi na krzyżu (He's Hanging On The Cross), 1935

Chór Juranda - Wisi na krzyżu (He's Hanging On The Cross), Syrena-Electro 1935 NOTE: Today is the night of the Last Super and the Easter Triduum has its beginning. I celebrate these great Catholic days with my uploading of the old Polish hymn for the Lent: Wisi na krzyżu (He's Hanging On The Cross). Polish Lent songs collection is very old and rich, it contains the monuments of the popular anonymous creativity as well as the compositions of the renowned artists: musicians as well as poets (eg bard of the Polish Renaissance, Jan Kochanowski). What's for me peculiar about this rendition, is Chór Juranda (The Jurand's Choir) appearing on the record's label as this song's performer, for we are used to see the name of that popular Polish revelers' band from the 1930s in a quite different repertoire (foxtrotts, tangoes...). It proves, how our times are different from the world of our parents or grandparents. I simply cannot imagine any of Polish or West European "celebrities" presenting themselves in such serious religious repertoire, on any of the main pop-culture arenas of today.

Old Pasodoble from Warsaw!: "La Calesera" - Chór Juranda, 1935

Chór Juranda & Aniela Szlemińska (sopran), Orkiestrą Syrena-Rekord dyryguje: Jerzy Jurand - LA CALESERA ["Pasodoble de los Chisperos" de la Zarzuela "La Calesera"] (Musica: Francisco Alonso), Syrena-Electro 1935 (Polish) NOTE: Francisco ALONSO López -- Spanish composer born in Granada (1887). His mother was a fine pianist, was supportive when his initial choice of medicine as a career was abandoned in favour of musical studies, initially with the Cathedral choirmaster. By eighteen he was proficient enough in technique to become director for the Cordova Regiment, and provided them with a popular success in the pasodoble Pólvora sin humo. About this time he also directed the Philharmonic Society orchestra of his native city, and wrote his first zarzuela La niña de los cantares for the Teatro Cervantes. In 1911 he moved to a capital city and soon became popular in the higher siciety as author of couplets for fashionable salons and it wasn't until 1916 that he achieved his first significant presentation on a more serious stage with a zarzuela (a Spanish kind of a musical) "Música, luz y alegría" in Teatro Novedades. In 1924 came the first triumph with an operetta "La linda tapada", which enjoyed a highly successful run at the Teatro Cómico and was swiftly followed up with "La bejarana". Both zarzuelas were presented with equal success in Latin America and Alonso's music was even heard in Paris. In 1925 his three-act pieces include "La Calesera" (1925) - the most famous of all ...

Wątroba i trzustka w kiepskim stanie(skutek dotychczasowego żywienia) Dzięki mobilizacji wielu osób ,Jurand obecnie przebywa w płatnym schronisku w Szczecinku. Jest leczony,dożywiany ,dopieszczany, wyprowadzany na spacery. Okazało się,że mimo kalectwa i doświadczeń ,Jurand ...
