Joker's "Killing Joke" monologue in 3D
From the pages of "The Killing Joke", this is an incarnation of the Joker's monologue over the PA system of the funhouse, after Batman enters to track him down. I created all the visuals using Maya, and an editing program or two along the way. The voice acting was performed by Pgirts (www.youtube.com who also chose the music and arranged the audio file used in the project. His rendition of the material inspired the animations I later created. I do not in any way own or claim ownership of the Joker character or any related characters, graphic novels, etc. Joker and all related characters and elements are trademarks of and © DC Comics. Joker tells a joke...
Here we see a shining example of the Joker's truly "unique" sense of humor. Once again, as with my other Joker project, I made all the visuals and animations using Maya. Pgirts performed the voice acting for the majority of the piece, and chose the fun, playful music for the background ambience. The portion of audio at the end, however, was taken directly from the B:TAS episode called "The Laughing Fish". For all those wondering about Pgirts' voice acting abilities, this project provides a direct comparison to the original, as that is Mark Hamill laughing at the end. As I was working on this project, I realized that my original idea was perhaps a little too dark to put on a demo reel, so I ended up coming up with this version instead. Adding Harley Quinn not only made the ending a bit more demo reel friendly, but it also added lots of previously absent implications about the direction and content of the joke. Ultimately, this ending won me over. Hope you all have as much fun watching it as I did making it. Thanks again to Pgirts for letting me use his performances. This is a project from roughly 5-6 years ago (it's still only 1024x768) that I just wanted to put out there. Sure, the animation is quite a bit rough and there are many things I would do differently today, but I have something of an affection for this one. It's a reminder of where I was at that time. To boot, it was almost lost, as the files were for a while misplaced and the rendered versions I could find were much too small in resolution and low quality. Beetlejuice was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid. I'd love to do something else with the material at some point. For a while I was planning to recreate one of the show's many different opening numbers in 3D. Might still happen... Beetlejuice and all related characters are copyright Geffen Pictures and produced by Nelvana in association with Tim Burton, Inc. Used here as a fan recreation.

Here we see part of the climactic final battle of the Cerebus movie. Cerebus and co. encounter a giant, multi-tentacled serpent creature. I was told that no one really wanted to touch this scene, so it sounded like a challenge. After this clip, the next portion involves Cerebus using his sword to climb up the serpent's belly. That should be fun to animate. I'm aiming for dramatic camera angles and close-call timing. Still tweaking the blood settings on this thing. Just wanted to help insure that it would look nice on the big screen.
