Eschenbach - Mozart, Piano Sonata K.545 In C Major - I Allegro

Early life Eschenbach's parents were Margarethe (née Jaross) and Heribert Ringmann. He was orphaned during World War II. As a result of the trauma, he did not speak for a year, until he was asked if he wanted to play music. Wallydore Eschenbach (née Jaross), a cousin of his mother, adopted him in 1946. After the war, he studied the piano with his foster mother. He later studied piano with Eliza Hansen and in 1955 he enrolled at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, studying with Hans-Otto Schmidt-Neuhaus. At age 11, he had witnessed Wilhelm Furtwängler conduct, which had a great impact on him. In 1959, he started studying conducting with Wilhelm Brückner-Rüggeberg. [edit]Musical career As a pianist, Eschenbach has won numerous first-place piano competition prizes, including first prize in the Clara Haskil Competition in Vevey, Switzerland in 1965. In 1964, he made his first recording (of Mozart) for Deutsche Grammophon and signed a contract with the label. Eschenbach continued to study conducting with George Szell, with whom he worked for more than three years. In addition, Herbert von Karajan was his mentor for nearly twenty-five years. In 1981, Eschenbach became principal guest conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and was chief conductor from 1982 to 1986. Other posts have included music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra (1988-1999), where he now holds the title of Conductor Laureate; chief conductor of the NDR Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg (1998-2004); and ...

Mozart - Grieg Sonata K.545 "Sonata facile" in C major - II. Andante

Sviatoslav Richter & Elisabeth Leonskaja plays Mozart K.545 with freely added accompaniment for a second piano by Edvard Grieg. WA Mozart Sonata in C major, K.545 Sonata facile I. Allegro - www.youtube.com II. Andante - www.youtube.com III. Rondo, Allegretto - www.youtube.com On 27 May 1877 Edvard Grieg wrote to his publisher: "During the winter I have been engaged on a task that I found particulary interesting - adding a free, second piano to several of Mozart's sonatas. The work was intended in the first insatnce for teaching purposes but by chance found its way into the concert hall, where the whole thing sounded surprisingly good." Grieg himself went some way towards preempting potential protests by insisting that his arrangements were intended for teaching. Such a line of argument obliges to examine the customs of the time - an age in which the gramaphone was barely a glint in its investor's eye and there was no opportunity to hear and follow interpretations at second hand. As a result, it was common practice around 1880 for piano teachers to accompany their pupils on a second piano, either to ensure the correct tempo or, perhaps, to make the soloist's solitary existance somewhat less intolerable... ~

Mozart Piano Sonata K.545 played on the Sydney University Carillon by Duo "Sam Say"

Duo "Sam Say" plays Mozart's Piano Sonata K.545 in C major arranged for the carillon by Beverly Buchanan on the Sydney University Carillon at their inaugural recital on 5th June 2011. Duo "Sam Say" (Cantonese for "Three, Four") are Amy Johansen, University Organist and Carillonist, and Isaac Wong, Honorary Carillonist. Amy is a carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA). Isaac is the first Australian to graduate from the Belgian Royal Carillon School in Mechelen, Flanders. They were both introduced to the instrument by Dr Jill Forrest, the former University Carillonist. Amy would like everyone to know that she had hurt her little finger during ice-skating, and begs listeners not to judge her too harshly on her performance. And Isaac claims full responsibility for all the wrong notes produced. Recitals are played every Sunday all year round at 2pm, at the Main Quad of the University of Sydney, Camperdown campus. Check www.carillon.org.au/usyd/ for more detail. You can also email us for requests.

Mozart Sonata Facile K.545 1st Mov

Mozart Sonata K.545 in C major (1st Movement Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (German: [ˈvɔlfɡɑŋ amaˈdeus ˈmoːtsaʁt], English see fn.[1]), baptismal name Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart[2] (27 January 1756 -- 5 December 1791), was a prolific and influential composer of the Classical era. He composed over 600 works, many acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertante, chamber, piano, operatic, and choral music. He is among the most enduringly popular of classical composers. Mozart showed prodigious ability from his earliest childhood in Salzburg. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he composed from the age of five and performed before European royalty. At 17 he was engaged as a court musician in Salzburg, but grew restless and travelled in search of a better position, always composing abundantly. While visiting Vienna in 1781, he was dismissed from his Salzburg position. He chose to stay in the capital, where he achieved fame but little financial security. During his final years in Vienna, he composed many of his best-known symphonies, concertos, and operas, and portions of the Requiem, which was largely unfinished at the time of Mozart's death. The circumstances of his early death have been much mythologized. He was survived by his wife Constanze and two sons. Mozart learned voraciously from others, and developed a brilliance and maturity of style that encompassed the light and graceful along with the dark and passionate. His influence on subsequent ...
