Cinema 2011

A mix of laughs, kisses, fights, tears and everything in between. Here's what brought us together this year. List of films and music used in the description. More about 'Cinema 2011': www.keesvandijkhuizen.com God, I love cinema. Each year I'm reminded of the sheer force a couple of frames can hold, and it's something only found in film. It seems to just fly by, and if you don't pay attention, you might miss it all. A gorgeous masterpiece about one family coping with the end of the world, the portrait of a young man diagnosed with cancer, the end of a ten-year adventure that reached millions, a cynical writer discovering the magic of Paris... No matter how you look at it, 2011 had something to offer for everyone. After Cinema 2008, 2009 and 2010, I decided to take a new approach. Artists like Gen and Matt have explored new terrain of the end-of-the-year montage and the urge to keep Cinema's identity intact became bigger than ever. After experimenting with a more personal vision last year, I decided to focus more on the year itself rather than my vision on it. The Cinema series has a special place for me because bringing so many films together makes it so very clear why we want to spend hours and hours in a dark room filled with strangers. As always, thanks a million to my wonderful subscribers and viewers, everyone who I've had the joy of sharing my passion with and everyone else who've made my YouTube career such a wonderful success. This one's for you. List of films and ...

[the films of] Steven Spielberg

Film as we know it today was shaped by thousands of creative minds working together to create something special for the audience to experience. Among those is Steven Spielberg; considered by many to be the true master of modern day cinema, Spielberg's 26 feature films have each taken us to magical worlds, introduced us to fantastic characters and on adventures we will never forget. [the films of] has honored many filmmakers, but none of them as significant to film history as the genius featured in this final episode. [the films of] was a 12-part, yearlong project on YouTube, created to showcase some of our time's finest filmmakers. It has been an amazing journey for me, and hopefully for some of the thousands of viewers who have supported me this past year. I have gained a new perspective on film and the process behind it, and my passion for the medium has grown to new heights. I want to thank everyone who accompanied me during this project, and I hope it was as satisfying watching it as it was creating it. [the films of] Christopher Nolan

After hundreds of requests, one of the most visionary, iconic and successful filmmakers of our generation has finally gotten the [the films of] treatment. Christopher Nolan's films have kept anyone of us on the edge of their seat. Every film is filled with secrets, surprises, twists and turns, and only a true movie mastermind could keep even the biggest film nut fooled until the very last minute. They're films that demand a second, third and fourth viewing. Christopher Nolan is a perfect example of traditional filmmaking with modern twists, and is a fine addition to a series already filled to the brink with inspiring artists. Cinema 2010

We've reached the end of yet another unforgettable year of movies. Not only did this years movies push boundaries even further, they did so with impeccable risks. In a time of recession and playing-it-safe, films like Inception and The Social Network still found a great audience. But smaller films also, like Blue Valentine, Splice, Buried and Breaking Upwards found loving followers. It's crazy to think that all these films came out in one year, and so I tried my best do give them each a moment of glory. // I purposely chose for a more personal approach this year, seeing as a lot of other editors were making their own film retrospective. Cinema 2010 is a lot darker and deeper than 2009 and even hints to situations in my own life a couple of times (like my fear of heights and me finishing high school). I hope people will enjoy it even though it's a little more heavy than past years, but that was because this has been quite a heavy year for me. Learn more about making Cinema 2010: bit.ly . // Thank you all for supporting the Cinema series and I greatly appreciate all your enthusiasm for my work. [the films of] Danny Boyle

Danny Boyle is one of the most energetic, talented filmmakers alive and was a perfect match to juxtapose Sofia Coppola's minimalism from the first [the films of]. Every image Boyle puts on the screen is pure visual beauty. His films vary from brilliant comedy to terrifying horror, but his best films are the ones where he mixes genres up a bit and create totally unique films. Poster: ibsprintingfx.deviantart.com Foreword: The Official release of my latest film. I originally planned to release it on my birthday on the 22nd this Wednesday, but once i saw the final render i just couldn't resist myself. The Film: A film covering the whole theme of kobe bryant when he is in the zone, only title "when he's on fire," for mor theatrical purposes. It dives in to just how focused and how much of a drive kobe has when he gets going. This really took me just about a month to edit, because i didn't really dig into it until mid-January. I can say that i am proud of this work and hope that all of you will be awe-inspired by the film. Usain Bolt - RUNaway : Teaser

Foreword: A film that will set the exclamation point for Bolt, Mainly because I plan on releasing this after the olympics. Given that Usain Bolt gives another exquisite performance, it will be a film like none - other diving into the realm of Bolt and his speed. The Trailer: Though it may seem a bit abstract, if you focus on what all the commentators are saying, it explains what Usain has done thus far, and what he continues to do and what he will continue to do. In essence, he is running from not only the competition, but from all of the speed barriers and limits that have been set for humans. And just as the BBC commentator mentions, " And Usain Bolt continues........" Director's Note I know its been since September since the last sprinting video but here it is finally. I've been busy with other projects , specifically the Kobe Bryant film soon to release hopefully by the end of the month so be on the lookout for that and other Movie Compilations soon to come. It 's time to sprint again, so lace up those spikes and marry the track, because it's go time. As always, Enjoy. PLEASE, DON'T TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! IT'S NOT A REAL MOVIE! Thanks to heresjohnny1991 for his "Edgar Wright: The Works" and "Stanley Kubrick: The Works" videos and keesvdijkhuizen for his "the films of Ridley Scott" video for additional footage for this and the second trailer. Enjoy it, anyway.

2011's Film Resume

What a journey it has been. After nearly 4 months of editing 266 movie trailers down to a little over eight and a half minutes (with credits for music) accompanied by five songs. This is my first attempt at bringing all those films together and making a cohesive piece of entertainment. My interest in wanting to do a video like this came from watching Gen's "Filmography 2010" video, where I realized that something like this was possible. I also got motivated by both Kees' "Cinema" series and Matt's "Cinescape" series. Thanks guys! So grab a loved one or significant other, a beverage and/or snack of your choice, sit back, relax, turn up your speakers/headphones, and watch in glorious 1080p HD as most of the films from last year come together and remind us why we love this medium so damn much! les Motifs™ - Coming Soon

Made January 2012 Foreword: A cinema series that will be inspiration to many of you, just has many of my other videos have been also. This its self, though i conceived the idea to do this before i knew of him, is heavily inspired by film student : Kees VanDijkhuizen, someone of whom has been a real motivator in these past few months. Also, the great mind of Christopher Nolan(Inception, The Dark Knight) has also inspired me too. the whole way in which he approaches film is just mind blowing to me and have tooken note from some of his films and incorporate it into the work I do on a samller scale. The Series: It will cover the many aspects of film, along with the emotion that comes along with it. The first official video should come out in the next 2 weeks I hope, and am really excited about it. New things are coming this year subscribers so please continue to watch my videos, you guys always keep me inspired to do better and beyond what I think I can. [the films of] Sofia Coppola

Sofia Coppola has made some of the most genuine and beautiful films of the last couple of years. Ever single film is a delight to watch, but also burdens emotions so strong it's almost impossible not to feel attached to her characters. The four feature films written and directed by Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette and Somewhere) are compiled in this short but extensive montage featuring music from her films, kicking off the [the films of] collection in the best way possible.
