Khom Loys at Maejo
Release of thousands of Khom Loys at Maejo University near Chiang Mai - Thailand. Khom Loys are made out of mulberry paper, bambou fibers (for the frame at the base) and 2 metallic wires. They are supposed to take away your bad luck and are releaser for Loy Krathong in the north of Thailand.

Bokator & yuthakun Khom training
Training Bokator in Cambodia in November 2006 at the Yuthakun Khom Academy. The person teaching me is the son of one of the last remaining Bokator teachers. From what i had learned, Bokator is actually a part of an even much larger and broader khmer art called Yuthakun Khom. It was by far one of the most enlighting martial art experiences I've ever had. They do not have much money (in fact my trainer fights in khmer boxing tournaments to support his family), yet faithfully dedicate themselves to the revival of this uniquely Khmer art. My family and I are trying to help them grow into a full fledged school. Khom Loy Hilltribe Agricultural Project
Khom Loy is an NGO operating in N Thailand. We help the ethnic minority hilltribes in a number of ways and this video shows our Agriculture Project, which deals with the causes of malnutrition and helps remote villages increase food security by growing vegetables and other crops, and raising pigs and fish.

Loy Krathong Khom Loi, hot air balloons at Mea Jo, Chiang Mai Thailand
I posted this a few years ago but this is more detailed and much better resolution and higher quality than before. I just had to post this as it was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen at the festival. Here in North Thailand the Loi Krathong Festival is much different than anywhere in the Kingdom. In the small town of Mae Jo north of Chiang Mai they started the festival on Saturday night by launching hot air balloons calld "Khom Loy". I went with friends and took this short video. We are not talking about a few Khom Loy but thousands upon thousands all at the same time. You got to see this.

Thai novice monks release hot air balloons they have made from paper to celebrate the Loy Kratong festival. A fan is used to inflate, then fire on a stick heats the air and the balloon is released with a tail of firecrackers and sometimes a plane which flys down.

Khom Loy Montessori Childcare Centres
Khom Loy is an NGO operating in N Thailand. We help the ethnic minority hilltribes in a number of ways and this video shows our education project, which converts village childcare centres into Montessori-based early learning centres. Our main objective is teaching children from a non-Thai speaking household to speak, read and write basic Thai before they enter the Thai education system.
