Boondocks - Martin Luther King Speech

It needed to be said. What we want to hear isn't always what we need to hear. Back in the 1980's corporations decided to send out youth scouts to get inside our heads. They saw us as a potential marketing demographic to exploit. They force fed us this culture, Record Labels, Rap, BET, MTV, Brand Names, Pop, the club scene, it's all to serve a few greedy bastards at the top who are profiting off of our stolen identity. When we embrace this culture of ignorance we betray the dream of MLK.

The King's Speech movie - a stammerer's view

The movie did great things for awareness of stammering and the stage play, on which the screenplay was very closely based, had the same effect - although, sadly, it has now closed after a short run in London's West End. The story gave stammerers and non-stammerers 'permission' to talk to each other about this often embarrassing subject. King George VI died in 1952 and, whilst we know a lot more today about the causes and treatment of stammering, there is still no cure and, in many parts of the country, the NHS does not provide any speech therapy service for adults. For an interview with Colin Firth about his role as the King in the film, please go to www.stammering.org For more information on The Monster Study, see en.wikipedia.org If you are in the UK, and want help with your speech, please ring the British Stammering Association helpline on 0845 603 2001 or visit www.stammering.org The BSA is the national charity and is run by people who stammer, for the benefit of all those whose lives are affected by stammering. If you live outside the UK, and want advice about stammering - or simply want to learn more - you can still go to www.stammering.org or to any of these other leading sites www.stutterisa.org (International Stuttering Association), http (USA), www.stutteringhomepage.com (USA) or http If you like to see an adaptation of this video, spoken in Swedish, please go to www.youtube.com

Theme from The King's Speech by Alexandre Desplat

The King's Speech is a 2010 British historical drama film directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Colin Firth plays King George VI who, to overcome his stammer, sees Lionel Logue, an Australian speech therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The two men become friends as they work together, and after his brother Edward VIII abdicates, the new king relies on Logue to help him make a radio broadcast on the day that Britain goes to war with Germany at the beginning of World War II. Seidler, who began researching George VI's life after overcoming his own stammer during his youth, wrote about the men's relationship. Nine weeks before filming, Logue's notebooks were discovered and quotations from them were incorporated into the script. Principal photography took place in London and other locations in Britain, in December 2009 and early January 2010. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 7 January 2011. The King's Speech was a major box office and critical success. On a budget of £8 million (roughly $15 million), it grossed over $400 million internationally. It was widely praised by critics for its visual style, art direction, and acting. Other commentators discussed the film's misrepresentation of the historical events it portrays, in particular the reversal of Winston Churchill's opposition to abdication. The film received many awards and nominations, mostly for Colin Firth. The film was nominated for seven Golden Globes, winning Best Actor -- Drama for Firth ...

The King's Speech - Just The Stuttering & Stammering

Another supercut for you. This time, 2010 Oscar-winner The King's Speech, edited down to just the king's stuttering and stammering--no full words allowed!! This one turned out really weird. Rules: It had to be the king himself stuttering, and he had to be on-screen (back to camera counts) when the stutter happened. It could be a partial word, a general throat noise while trying to talk, or a stretch of silence where he's clearly trying to form words. Everything else got cut out. Enjoy!
