Ton Koopman - JS Bach/from: Frenche Suites - Sarabande

Ton Koopman was born in Zwolle in 1944. After a classical education he studied organ, harpsichord and musicology in Amsterdam and was awarded the Prix d'Excellence for both instruments. Almost from the beginning of his musical studies he was fascinated with authentic instruments and a performance style based on sound scholarship. Even before completing his studies he laid the foundations for a career as a conductor of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music and this fascination with the Baroque era led him in 1969, at age 25, to establish his first Baroque orchestra and, in 1979, to found The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra followed in 1993 by the Amsterdam Baroque Choir.

Recitativo: "fulget amica dies" Performed by the Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg Featuring Luba Orgonasova, soprano Conducted by Ton Koopman *"Exsultate, Jubilate" was written in 1773. This religious solo motet was composed at the time Mozart was visiting Milan. It was written for the castrato Venanzio Rauzzini, Mozart's favourite for his operas. In modern times, it is usually sung by a soprano. There are two versions of this piece: one originally sung by Rauzzini, and one performed by castrato Francesco Ceccarelli for Salzburg in 1779. The second version replaces the oboes with flutes, and the the first two movements are given new words for Trinity Sunday and Christmas. In the present recording, it is the original version being performed.

Bach Harpsichord Prelude and Fugue in C major, BWV846 by Ton Koopman

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750) The Well-Tempered Clavier (Das Wohltemperirte Clavier in the original old German spelling), BWV846 is a collection of solo keyboard music composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. He first gave the title to a book of preludes and fugues in all 24 major and minor keys, dated 1722, composed "for the profit and use of musical youth desirous of learning, and especially for the pastime of those already skilled in this study." Bach later compiled a second book of the same kind, dated 1742, but titled it only "Twenty-four Preludes and Fugues." The two works are now usually considered to comprise the Well-Tempered Clavier and are referred to respectively as Books I and II. The Well-Tempered Clavier is generally regarded as one of the most influential works in the history of Western classical music. Recorded at Oud-Katholieke Kerk Maria Minor, Utrecht, Holland. Performed: Ton Koopman

[EuroArts 2050349] Koopman Plays Bach

Dutch organist and harpsichordist Ton Koopman is one of the most distinguished Bach interpreters of our time. On this DVD, he is featured interpreting Johann Sebastian Bachs greatest organ works, including the popular Toccata in D minor and the Fugue in G minor. He plays on the world-famous Silbermann Organ in Freiberg (Saxony). The organ was completed in 1714 and thoroughly restored in 1982/1983 and it closely retains its original condition. Bach adored his contemporary Gottfried Silbermanns organs for their exquisite sound and the recording allows the listener to enjoy this sound to the full while offering a closer look at this marvellously crafted instrument. In the second part of this DVD Ton Koopman is At Home with Bach! He plays favourite harpsichord pieces and accompanies the eminent Bach Singer Klaus Mertens in popular arias. The programme was filmed in the enchanting Gohlis Castle near Leipzig, a late baroque jewel built in 1755. An enlightening Behind-the-Scenes Picture Gallery completes this masterly DVD. REPERTOIRE: JS Bach: Toccata in D minor, Fugue in G minor, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland, Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele; At home with Bach (Arias and Harpsichord Pieces) Willst du dein Herz mir schenken, Schlummert ein, ihr matten Augen, komm, süsser Tod, Dir, dir, Jehova, will ich singen Amore traditore etc.; Toccata in G minor, Chorales, Minuets BONUS: Behind-the-Scenes Picture Gallery RELEASED: September 2004 www.naxos.com

Ron Paul - Roger Koopman (R) HD70 pt 1

On the Bill of Rights Day in Bozeman Montana, with about 58 RP supporters, Roger Koopman gives a brilliant speech, endorsing Ron Paul as the ONLY candidate worthy of being the next President of our United States. I was going to edit this speech to a 10 min segment , but could not bring myself to cut anything out. So here it is in 3 parts. Another politician with spine and gumption. God bless you Roger, we need more people like you, Rick Jore, Stan Jones, and Ron Paul. One with God is a majority!
