Bourne & Kraatz (CAN) - 2001 Trophée Lalique, Ice Dancing, Free Dance

Paris, FRANCE - 2001 Trophée Lalique, Ice Dancing, Free Dance - Shae Lynn Bourne and Viktor Kraatz of Canada had to stop their skate after the first minute when a piece of Shae Lynn's costume fell onto the ice. The break did not seem to disrupt their skating as they were able to place 2nd in the Free Dance to win the Silver Medal here.
Bourne & Kraatz (CAN) - 2002 Salt Lake City, Ice Dancing, Free Dance

Salt Lake City, Utah, USA - 2002 Winter Games, Ice Dancing, Free Dance - Shae Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz of Canada missed the opportunity to capitalize on Fusar-Poli & Margaglio's fall by having a fall of their own at the very end of their dance. Theirs was costlier as both skaters fell and were docked a 0.2 deduction in the Technical Merit mark. They would just barely hold onto 4th Place in a 5-4 vote and would finish in 4th Place overall.
1994 Shae-Lynn Bourne - Victor Kraatz Worlds FD Canada

This was America's first look at a Canadian dance team that dazzled viewers for years. Four time World Bronze medalists (96-99), they became involved in countless judging controversies that befuddled true connoisseurs of the sport. Here we see "hydroblading" for the first time, and a number of terrific 'edgy' moves. We all 'cried' at their last second fall in the 1998 Olympics....a spectacular shocker that links them to the likes of Ronnie and Cindy Kauffman, Janet Lynn, Katarina Witt, Kurt Browning, Shen/Zhao, and Totmianina/Marinin. I could easily write a book on this couples skating, but I leave it to you to explore this popular teams other posts on YOUTUBE, and read up for yourself. I also credit Shae-Lynn with the unusual feat of inventing a new figure skating event: -----Solo ice dancing!!----- She often appeared in exhibition by herself, and captivated audiences with fascinating explorations of music, without jumps!! It is a popular and growing sport in Great Britain, and I tirelessly campaign to have it recognized worldwide. It merits exploration, especially in view of the gross disatisfaction many fans have with the current style standard in figure skating. It is an assessable sport that is quite entertaining, and could appeal to a broad new spectrum of competitor and fan....with much less physical injury to the participants. OK, I'm stepping down off my soapbox!!!!!!!!!!

Great teams deserve more than one post. Here is a little mid career Bourne/Kraatz, featuring some deliciously, hot hydroblading! I think this performance won them a bronze medal, but let me check before you take this as gospel truth!

Bourne & Kraatz (CAN) - 1998 Nagano, Ice Dancing, Free Dance

Nagano, JAPAN - 1998 Winter Games, Ice Dancing, Free Dance - Shae Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz of Canada placed 3rd in the Free Dance over France's Anissina & Peizerat as Yuri Balkov, the judge from Ukraine, broke ranks with those involved in the block judging (judges from Russia, Italy, Czech Republic and France). Balkov knew that it didn't matter if Bourne & Kraatz placed 3rd or 4th in the Free Dance, as the final results would not have been altered, and those results being Bourne & Kraatz finishing in 4th Place overall.
Grishuk & Platov (RUS) / Bourne & Kraatz (CAN) - 1998 Nagano, Ice Dancing, Compulsory Dance No. 1

Nagano, JAPAN - 1998 Winter Games, Ice Dancing, Compulsory Dance No. 1 ("Golden Waltz") - A split-screen running comparison of the Golden Waltz as performed by Pasha Grishuk & Evgeny Platov of Russia and Shae Lynn Bourne & Victor Kraatz of Canada. Despite an error by Grishuk & Platov, they were not penalized by the judges. In all fairness, view of the error was blocked by the judges, fortunately, by Pasha's gown. Grishuk & Platov would place 1st after this dance, while Bourne & Kraatz would place a surprising 5th.
The Chother Song - Jeremy Ellis and Laura Kraatz

The Chother Song by Jeremy Ellis and Laura Kraatz- When you think out loud not talking to each other, you can still communicate with your other chother. When you say the word in the wrong context, your chother hears what you meant to say next. If youre of one mind and on the same page, it doesnt matter how or what you say. Keep your mouth shut; you dont have to say a word. If you talk too much, you wont ever be heard. Your chother can hear exactly what you mean and know what you think about what youve seen. Hang with you chother; talk without a sound. A mental conversation when your chothers around If youre tired of talking or you start to stutter, just cop a squat right next to your chother. Next to your chother
